You should put a villain tag. Repaying kindness with hatred is a doing of a villain. Extracting plot armour is okay but Squeezing it dry is too much(It's okay if that character is bad to you but that character helps him).I know that he needs to protect his Family but his the one who creates more problem for his family.With his experience and talent he extract is already enough to be stronger.
