The idea was that he didn’t want to face his family because he felt guilty. He never told them that he killed innocent and even good people for money. He was afraid they would reject them. His family didn’t know how the police was after him. They didn’t know how much danger they were in if his identity was revealed. He didn’t feel like he deserved them, and he was too broken to think correctly. This was the idea I tried to go for. I apologize if it is flawed and doesn’t make sense.
