I'm a 'proofreader' and have already read up to chapter 21, so I am capable of forming a decent review right now. First of all, this story is a rewrite of the author's other Fairy Tail story, and while those chapters have been deleted, I can confidently say that the rewrite is a lot better. The writing style is very good since the author has an editor, and if I were to notice a mistake, I would also mention it (along with a few others), which in my experience has only happened once. The author has some experience with his other books. The One Piece story was pretty popular and well-written too. The planning done by the author and the editor is very well done since they always talk in the chats and voice channels to discuss the planning of the story, and since this story is AU with a lot of changes, it has to be done very well so it feels natural, which it does. H*ll, the story is more realistic than the original in more than just the power of friendship being removed, but I can't say much of that since that would be a slight spoiler. The updating frequency should also be good since there are a few chapters stocked up, and their writing pace isn't slow, though the dropped (perhaps to be continued) stories do worry me even if they said they wouldn't drop. The world-building is very amazing since the AU elements are implemented very well. Fairy Tail's author left a lot of things unexplored, but in this story, a lot of those unexplored things will be shown. The MC is pretty nice. He looks like Shanks and has crush magic since he is the son of Gildarts (you can't tell me this is a spoiler. You gotta be a buffoon to not realize it). I don't think there is anything really bad about the story, so do read it

I mean just a question, but aren't all FF just AU?

Cyber_Tom67:Oh ok that good i still dont like AU because even when its meant for world building its either a hit or a miss and sometimes its still used as a crutch but ill give this a try because its a rewrite im sure this AU wont be used as a cruch and hopefully actually increases the story building like you said

i mean the fact that this is AU isn't because of some weird crossover or whatever, but to explore parts the original author never bothered to.

Hardly. theirs a difference between having the same universe with a new mc in it changing the plot and having a new mc in a completely warped universe that only slightly resembles it. when i see a AU tag it tends to mean that the author doesnt know much about the world heā€™s using and is using AU as a way to ignore cannon facts about the world heā€™s using. if i want to read a marvel or Harry Potter fic, id want it to actually be those worlds not just some bad look alike, id rather just read a orginal story at that point. this genre is worse then the chinese system novels.

I mean yeah i see your point, but i guess what i'm thinking is no matter how the author sticks to canon and what not, there are bound to be differences obviously. Things like characters not reacting or behaving as they would be in the 'original' work, as well as the new MC addition themselves interacting with the main cast of said series and influencing them to do certain things that they wouldn't of done if there was no outside influence (OC MC) being done upon them. I guess I always just see it as if the original author/maker of the series doesn't recognize those things as canon, then I would just think of them as an AU, a what-if scenario. That's why i every time i see/read FF's, it will always be an AU in my mind since it's not canonized hence a what-if scenario.

Yeah i get that and i agree. what i love about fics is that you get another perspective on a character from the authors point of view or different possible scenarios in a story. its technically all in a alternate universe and in storys with multiverses and timelines its possible they could exist in the story. Believe me i love it when they destroy cannon(original plot)but where i draw the line is when they start messing with the actual facts on how that universe or characters works. Like if you read a superman in marvel au fic where they keep nerfing his powers because its au, would you like that? Like AU could be super cool in Harry Potter but whats the point of making it a Harry Potter fic if you make pheonix tears common or get the abilities and characteristics of magical beasts wrong like dementors or something.
