You see that makes sense if sexism wasn't almost a core belief of Chinese culture. However instead what I find most often Chinese books and comics are scenarios that fetishize young girls. Now that is not to say all or most however in my endless search for finding other books I've come across way too many to not consider it a trend. You cannot honestly tell me that a culture which drowned baby girls and left them out on the streets because they wanted a boy would immediately lose that sexism and instead want a daughter. Also you say I have brain damage but call me racist for pointing out the issues of a national culture not a race. So before you try to take any sort of moral stance you should really not confine a race to one nationality otherwise you'd be generalizing all Asians into one culture.

That could be a kind of pseudo remorse to the fact that under the one child policy they going to have a daughter or it could be because maybe the aborted one or killed one after was already out of the womb in order to have a son. However it would still be kind of strange to have it so common across quite a few books and not have something larger at play. For the most part I'm pretty sure it's propaganda that China is trying to encourage as it becomes more egalitarian though it is still miles away. However I'd also be remiss if I did not consider the constant sexualization of young girls done by the Chinese and Japanese. The Japanese reaching young boys too.
