I've tried reading quite a few works here on Webnovel. Almost always, the world feels constructed by the author specifically to empower the protagonist. That is, the world doesn't really have much going for it; it's just bland set-dressing. Shadow Slave is different. The world(s) created by Guiltythree are as interesting as the plot lines happening within them. Very few novels have had locations with designs this compelling, and fewer have world-building that is this intertwined with the locations in the story. Another compelling element of this novel is that it isn't obsessed with constant battles/fighting. Sure, there are a lot of fights, but the focus here is absolutely on telling a compelling story. Compare that to many other works where the story feels like an excuse to put the OP protagonist into situations where they can look cool and get more powerful. Ultimately, the only complaint I'd have about Shadow Slave (not a negative, just a complaint) is that I personally would like to see more characters' POVs. We occasionally get a chapter from another perspective, but more frequent shifts could really keep things interesting while adding depth to other characters.
