Volume 1 is good. Very good. Volume 2- A lot of chapters, do not make sense. The author went along the path of the text, for the sake of the text. Lost dynamics. Volume 2 - a snail crawling in a small circle. The character development in Volume 1 . Volume 2- development canceled and stuck in place. They have become dumber.

I'm gonna have to agree wholeheartedly with your comment. The author was so great at writing and elaborating so many things, perspective details, character traits (especially mc and friends) in the first volume. Could say it was a masterpiece of start and setup! But the second volume was so disappointing!! Especially MC's character and mindset. The author wrote all this "development" for him when he was in the black mountain arc (first dream/trial something). All of his cunningness, street-smarts, planning, deception abilities, etc... developed so hard and his mindset of was enhanced further... Only to be scratched COMPLETELY in the second volume. And I say that even before all the "traumatic experiences" he went through, especially after escaping the ashen barrow part. I actually liked the relationships he was developing to try create rapports with strangers. He was still using his head at that time. But then, he loses it completely. And I don't like it how he has become this fucking dog that "oops I forgot to negotiate my end of the deal" when meeting his former partners again. How many deals has he been on the "losing" end!? (especially giving valuable memories like the blood arrows to Kai for the same amount of memory cores it is equivalent, without taking account it's rarity, it's adaptability to Kai's skills, and the shear badassness the memory has. All that would make the actual value worth so much more! But he let's it go like that. There are other examples too.) But I especially lost it when he felt guilty for the deal he already did dozens/hundred chapters earlier with Nephis for her to teach him her family's sword art. He even has the balls to say he "scammed" her!! That's totally untrue from whatever perspective we can see it. And also not the character that the author has been writing from the beginning at all!! A short while later (up to now ~240 chapters), I'm feeling a bit tired about him being such a crying bitch to all the females - especially Nephis and Epphie (I really really like Epphie mind you. I just can't support reading Sunny losing EVERY confrontation he has with her!). I decided to read the reviews and comments to see if his character gets better over time (since there are hundreds of chapters to go already!). But GOD DAMN ! I read that Nephis is getting the romance partner treatment. Sunny is still a bitch at 800th chapter (is that still true!!??). Holy shit! Could someone please confirm if he is still a dog at 800th chapter please? I really like the premise and background of the story. Even the developments. But the MC is so fucking unbearable! That's not a street-hardened individual's personality at all!! And the women are sometimes so unbearable too. Like Nephis' robot personality (staring into the distance, no facial expressions, "betrayal/decpetion" but Sunny forgets it all and is glued to her like a magnet, etc...)
The slow pace is relative i start read the novel a few days back so i have a lot of chapters to read and you don't pay much atention pace but when you catch up that when the pain begins
WhoIZIT:Volume 2 started with Mc regressed instead of making progress, hiding from everyone scared,no Character development.Volume 2 was God Awful take 1 chp to explain one thing.

Cause some of this commands like "give it a try it'll become better bait me in wasting a lot of time reading past c500 so over 150c after Volume 2 and i can say it's a bait and even became worse (boring and very stretched). Volume 2 maybe breaks the whole story but at least it's intense with the last chapter being the last blow and Volume 3 start like nothing really happened before (just generic banter, grinding, teaming up with traitors cause a friend asked nicely). There is probably later some arc where for a short file it's fine but all of us know already the state that'll stay, it's always a reset. But let's be real it's a fating hope not worth to read hundreds of chapters in between and forgetting all what happened (maybe it's possible when you read it just for action together with many other novels and are not 100% aware of what happened till now).
Hi, never read the book here. I have a filosophy, "a book is as good as it's worse review". Criticism serves as a warning of the misconceptions and actual bad things about the book. I have more than four thousand hours in webnovel and this thought process has proved true. But that is irrelevant. What I trully want to say is. I have heard a lot about this book, from this review section to "the best webnovel in this app". From what I understood from the reviews I read and the people I talked to tjere is a grave difference how the character is portrayed and how he actaully acts. Or else There would not be so much divergent comments. The only reason this novel would be so acclaimed is that it is well writen and the public is unsatisfied with the other well liked novels (often calling them copies of each other) I understand why, but instead of suffering for hours, I would strongly suggest reading japanese light novels to refresh your minds, they don't have the problem of the mc being a literal slave and still depict a completely different mc from this novel I was succesefully warded away from thia book.
