Author here. Thought I'd give my own review of the story up to the current chapter. Also since it seems that people here look more to reviews than the Author's note in a story. Before everything else though, this story is aimed towards people who've read at least the entire story of Mushoku Tensei. If you haven't, expect to be confused. I try to remember to explain things, but I'm running off a big base of knowledge that you probably won't have and that the wiki might not complete. Hopefully it's still an enjoyable read, but that's on you for going regardless. Anyway... it seems that my writing skills are so good people expected something completely original from the start instead of a fanfic roughly following the main story for a while. I'm flattered, really, but for a first stab at a fanfic for a series, that's just not happening. This is more exploratory than anything with a cohesive plot. While we jump off the rails of canon eventually (and boy do we jump off) that's not for a while in. The beginning of the story is more character exploration than anything plot heavy. And speaking of character explorations... This story isn't planned out. I'm not an author who likes mapping the entire story out... mostly because the many times I've tried that in the past, it's been a complete and utter failure. I have a few points in mind and a destination, but the story is pretty much unfolding organically from whatever pops in my head at the time. I'd like to think I'm a pretty good improviser by now, but there's definitely going to be parts that fall flat, so don't expect *too* much. I think that's part of the fun though, personally. As to the story itself... I'll say that looks are deceiving. I'm the sort of author who trusts in my readers to figure things out and/or enjoys the 'aha' moment when their guess about what's unfolding turns out to be true or when they get their expectations subverted. Of course, that's the ideal, but again, when you're playing by ear... Anyway. I try for daily updates, but I can't guarantee stability. Especially these days. I'm a third year law student heading into Patent and IP law, so there's inevitably going to be times when I sacrifice writing for IRL stuff. Not to mention the fact that my hourly rate is much more than anything I could get from writing or patreon when I start a job in my field... Yeah. That's just how it's going to be. Character design... I rate that low because I don't really 'design' the characters. I'm mostly just going off of my best feel, which could be off-base. There's no handy character sheet or whatever I'm working with, so I can't guarantee perfect in-characterness all the time, only my interpretation at the moment. As for world background, *cough*. Yeah. That's pretty abridged here, haha. Anyway, hope that clears up some questions. P.S. I'm a believer in freedom of speech, but I'm also a believer in consequences. I won't take it personally if you leave an honest review, but if it's clear that you're acting with malicious intent, I will act accordingly and yeet your review from existence. It's enough having to deal with clients and hearing the horror stories from public defenders. I don't want any more negativity here and will act with all the zeal that my role as a zealous advocate requires in my job to remove it. Anywho, that's it from me. Another mushoku story in which the Mc reincarnated as a rudeus who knows nothing about the world follows the same path as the original, learns magic, meets Roxy, meets the green-haired elf, follows the same script as the original only changing the personality of the protagonist

There no point to read this fanfic, it's basically canon with a non pervert protagonist, it's an extremely slow paced story, very boring to read, a total waste of time, the level of entertainment by reading this fanfic is about the same as watching paint dry or grass grow...

Mass produced plagiarized content with minimal difference from the original. The lowlife who wrote this sacrificed Zenith's character so he can stick to the plot, because not sticking to the plot would make him lose more chances to copy events, conversations, etc. in near verbatim. His ff Zenith, a millis worshipper just as the original, for some unexplainable reason embraces a harem situation because Rudy doesn't want Lillia to leave(?) Read another MT fanfic if you want a genuine read. The writing is only good because it's literally plagiarized content with small tweaks. It has nothing to do with the author's writing ability and he has already shown that his quality would drop to rock bottom as soon as he diverts from the original plot, because he quite literally doesn't know what to do after that. His own imagination and ability can only get him so far, lol.

Reading this book was disgusting. Firstly, the main character is irrational, stupid, indecisive, there is no craving for the knowledge of the new world. Constantly trying to find reasons for murder or violence. Extremely stretched and long chapters. there is almost no important information. For all the chapters, he lived to be only 8 years old. Given his past life, he should have been more helpful. The character is too weak. No personality development and extreme aggression under the guise of protection. My eyes bleed when I read this.

Glad to see one of my favourite authors here! Vain has a very attractive writing style, fleshing out characters and giving them time to interact and grow rapport - I find the writing of characters to be very humanising and convincing. As someone that's read a bunch of Vain's other works, it's nice to see them being spread to other platforms.

Slow romance, stupid protagonist, confusing story (if I hadn't read the LN it would have been impossible to read), as dumb as the original rudeus, cut lines and omitted conversations, stupid misunderstandings like wuxia, bad development, etc....

Welcome to WN, Vain! Hope you have a good time! Anyway, here's the review- Writing Quality - 5* - Vain's writing is one of the most fun and understandable that I've had experience of. And, as expected of him, this story is simply amazing. For a story that only has little chapters compared to other stories in here, I daresay the quality of it is simply superb. After all, I prefer quality over quantity. Story Development - 5* - It's not rushed nor is it slow. The pacing is just... that. Something you can follow and won't make you lose. The story is fleshed out too with little to no boring scenes as almost everything inside this is entertaining! Character Design - 5* - This is why I like Vain's works. He makes the character so fleshed out that you know and realize every person has their own set of unique perks that makes them different from other people. It's what led me to his other stories, and one that I certainly do not regret doing so. Updating Stability - 5* - Again, superb. For a writer that is updating multiple stories, the quality never drops and stay consistent. I only hope that Vain isn't pushing himself that hard. World Background - 5* - Same as character design, the world background is fleshed out too. Vain describes the world that makes it easy to understand so you can visualise it more clearly. ...
