Checked out MTL up to chapter 198. This is actually a "qi recovering" type of novel, but with a twist. Not qi, magic or ghost but transforming into a more dangerous sci-fi world. And because of that recovery, between chapter 40 to 69 it already went in direction i didn't like - from a fine novel that you just could read for character interactions and case solving with smart MC the plot progressed into sci-fi world (marvel or something) with human,hybrid experiments plus gun fighting etc. There are transhumanist drug enhancements and supernatural abilities gained through them, transhumanist black technology like spine that can power humans up etc. For some reason it reminded me of Toaru Majutsu no index's unresolved sci-fi from a couple years ago. But reading further, it actually didn't impact the novel as negatively as i thought it would, we still get good plot executions (and some plot holes), good humour, characters interactions, school life, investigation cases and so on. Just that the plot armor stopped getting mentioned for some time now. The author checkmated himself as now MC is just stalking main characters and poaching talented "supporting characters", which is logical but doesn't require luck. And he's not in dangerous enough situations to require luck for now so the plot armor is briefly aborted and not mentioned:D General public so far hasn't entered this "abnormal" side of the world officially, still kept in the dark, but in the current arc the "abnormal" happens in broad daylight and can't be completely covered, so unrelated people are already getting contacted with it and it's a matter of time.
