I can make everything level up, but choose not to. MC is too smart for his own good and refuses to be efficient with his abilities for fear of being too op for his age. He hovers at this weird line between being stronger than his friends but not as strong as adults until he needs to be. He has the potential to powerlevel himself any skill or any item and trains constantly just inefficiently for years out of fear of standing out too much even though he has the ability to store the results of his training as status points. He is shown to understand how to maximize his system early on but ends up ignoring it after a point until the moment he needs to overcome a new obsticle. The author shows him accumulating power over years only for him to have a self imposed limiter on his potential for story reasons because his peers would quickly lose relevance as party members but it goes against the personality, desire, and need of strength of MC to do so which is frustrating.

He's not too smart for his own good, he's just stupid.

It's so annoying. The time he figured out he could get more xp and level up by grinding monsters in the dungeon, I expected MC to solo as many dungeons as possible but NOPE. MC is really dull, no ambition whatsoever. He just goes with the flow.

I gave up on this novel exactly for that reason, the mc understands how power works right in the first chapters, it was very obvious how to abuse his abilities to have exponential growth, but instead of using all his resources at his disposal to have a great development , but he wastes all his safe time in the beginning and does absolutely nothing, and when two tribes had to flee, he was absolutely useless, and after that he still wastes years without doing anything important. when he was born and he couldn't even move right he could have started farming, it was just increasing the mana stat, and acquiring skills that gave more mana or mana recovery, and keep updating them all (only grants mana and recovery of mana), the greater the level of these skills, the easier it is to level up other skills, so it was just focusing on mana and mana recovery, and trying to upgrade items with those same bonuses, doing it for some time with exponential growth would be absolutely OP.

he is too smart for his own good, what you should've said is unwise

That explains it. Haven’t read it but from the synopsis he should be op from the start

I Can Copy And Evolve Talents

Across the vast convolution of worlds, divine beings rule as absolute sovereigns—each god assigned dominion over a singular realm. Skirmishes are inevitable, whether for power, amusement, or sheer pettiness. One such battle, between Nexus, the God of Trickery, and an aging, senile deity, resulted in an anomaly… A soul misplaced. Elliot, an ordinary man, was never meant for Ul’Tra-el. But fate, or perhaps a cosmic prank, had other plans. Unlike other worlds, Ul’Tra-el is an aberration—one that developed a voice. A voice that diverged from the natural order. A voice that changed everything. Its foundation cracked, leaking dimensions into one another. Rifts tore open like festering wounds, vomiting forth unspeakable horrors—monsters not meant to exist. But the world did not sit idly by. In response—perhaps an act of self-preservation—the world gifted its inhabitants power. Talents awakened, granting people extraordinary abilities. And for every rift sealed, the Voice of Ul rewarded them generously. Survival was simple: fight, grow stronger, and close the rifts… or die trying. In this ruthless, blood-soaked reality, Northern—a white-haired boy burdened by his past life—was reincarnated. But unlike the chosen heroes, he awakened as a talentless nobody. No power. No strength. No future. And when death loomed over him—when despair clawed at his soul and the cold grip of the failure threatened to take him— A Voice responded: [System Notice] [Your Soul cannot take a form.] [Searching for a Unique Pattern Ability…] [Searching…] [Search Found.] [A Unique System Ability has been detected.] [You Can Copy And Evolve Talents] ... Follow Northern through his journey as he becomes the pinnacle of this world. This a story about a white-haired boy’s rise from rubbles!! Note: This is an overpower genre but MC does not just start off like that. Even though MC can copy talents he doesn't just jump around copying talents because there's a limitation. However, his rise to strength is depicted and is an experience to enjoy. The first few hundreds would be frustrating to follow because MC is weak but that makes the experience all the more interesting when MC finally gets freaking strong and starts wiping the floor with everyones asses.
