Standard IET stuff. Honestly all his books are the same and reading one means you read them all. I see no difference between Ji Ning, Qin Yu, Xu Jingming, etc are all literally the same character. But thats fine, people who are reading IET for the first time will get something that isnt straight garbage but I have a big problem with this particular novel. I can *feel* the nationalism when I read this. IET wasnt making it subtle whatsoever here. China #1 can be felt throughout my first 100 or so chapters, lemme explain. So the entire world is given VR technology and when they go online they can practice martial arts. After a while a ranking ranking is made with the strongest at the top and guess which nationality 2 of the top 3 are? Thats right folks, its granddaddy China with the other from Botswana. It just seems like China is naturally more talented than every other country by a wide margin. Lets not even get into the comments from the live streaming in VR, its constantly about oh man, these expert martial artists from [other country] are strong, but China is still better. I think the funniest example is in chapter 148 when the strongest from Korea is made out to be an arrogant mf who is going around challenging the top 3 just to get more views on his live stream. I feel like IET's recent novels have lost the magic from Desolate Era, Swallowed Star, COILING DRAGON, Stellar Transformation, etc and part of that is the nationalism here, while in the other recent novels its been a lot more logical. In his earlier works the MC got super lucky at the start and then had to muddle through the entire universe just to be the best and in recent time the MCs dont get lucky, they were just naturally talented and got some benefits here and there that make sense. My problem is that making sense doesnt carry the same *brilliance* of a moment like in Desolate Era where Ji Ning gets the inheritance and starts his journey or when Lou Feng died fighting the Gold Dragon.

bruh it was mentioned that due to the large population in China there were more chances of finding good talents than other countries, while I do agree that extreme nationalism has been shown but I mean the author is Chinese so what did you expect. It's the same with American movies from Marvel but you don't complain about that,do you? and china is the most famous for martial arts so them getting into top 10 for 2,3 year is plausible. And it was even mentioned that the top guy was very experienced in martial arts and that is only why he was at the top and soon younger generation will take over him.

I mean one of the top 3 Chinese is the MC. I don't think we should count that as pushing nationalism. As mentioned, it's not much worse than Marvel movies. It's not like they paint everyone outside of China as evil in this novel.

do you remember reverend insanity?

it's actually a law that they have to add the nationalism to the books otherwise they'll cease and desist your eesh. Pretty strict with it. You won't find a lot of books that have any Earth relations without heavy nationalism sentiment. they just don't exist anymore

OLD-WORLD EXTRA

{Check out my new novel, Misunderstood Villain: Heroines Mourn My Death} 'Born In Ruins' was a forgettable read. That was the only way Emir could describe the pages of the novel he had found himself reincarnated into. The young man barely knew anything, but the snippets he had recalled only caused him unending sorrow... As what awaited him was only tragedy and an early death. It was a depressing story, one that he had planned to flip on its head—all for his salvation. — In this post-apocalyptic world, monsters fought humans and cyborgs in a battle for survival on a scale greater than ever before. A world where innocence and death were a luxury, where the line between heroes and villains was razor-thin. Within its expanse, 'Ancient Clans,' 'Galactic Federations,' 'Factions', and 'Corporations' presided over colossal 'Ruins' that dwarfed the concept of life itself. Survivors of the 'Third World War' continuously dove into the 'Old World,' 'Hunting' for 'Relics' in any ruin that they could find on Earth, desperate to reclaim 'Lost' technology, to stand a fighting chance against the inevitable. But it appeared that 'Earthkind' had met their match. …However, Emir would never allow that fate to take its course. — Emir unraveled layers of the tale and realized the truth of the world. He acquainted himself with the rules of this game before it fully consumed him. And now... no longer content with mere survival, he sought to dominate over the very fabric of this unforgiving universe. Emir shall rise from the pawn he once was, seeking to unravel the mysteries that hounded him. The boundaries of 'Aether,' his father’s disappearance, the noose hanging above his family’s head, and of course… his starless destiny, a fate he longed to control. This pursuit would earn him the epithet: "Prince Of The Fallen." ---------------------------------------------- *Tags: Reincarnation ;), Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Magical Realism, Academy (Volume 3), Romance, Apocalypse, {Anti-Hero. Villain.} *Expect this novel to start slowly; it begins ramping up at the halfway point of volume 1. *The Magic System is introduced at the end of volume 1, read my review and Auxiliary chapter for more on that. *Warning: The main characters have emotions like proper humans. So don't expect your usual emo kid as the MC and come complaining later.
