Awe-inspiring, terrifyingly intense and exciting, with thrilling concepts and worldbuilding, the book shines with its humor and originality, even though the rampant jumping from past tense to present and a million times back again makes it a confusing read if your focus is not excellent. What I said about the intensity largely presents itself in the pacing and the correct ratio of show to tell. WHICH IS GOOD. Very enjoyable. And might I mention that the first chap should be enough to make you want to read anyway even if the author had used a previously undiscovered tense. Also, when you have beasts like these, who needs perfect grammar?? I will be reading this for a) humor b) intensity and c) duh, kaiju chickens and stuff! What will make me read slower than I otherwise would: the tenses. I literally don't care what the characters are like. I'm here for the action.
