the book is about a guy who gets a very advanced AI from a civilization which has progressed in technology to the point of being pseudo gods but the civilization has been wiped out as they were developing the Universe Matrix in a surprise attack from their enemy's, and the AI traveled and found the protagonist and chose him as he has the highest chance out of anyone in the whole universe in developing the Universe Matrix. But due to some intel given from the AI to the protagonist he finds out that there is a gene (the zerg gene) which is taking over the world and causes organisms to mutate into the zerg over a period of time. the Zerg is a species which destroys everything in sight, and gives birth to planet devourers which eat up whole planets.
