I adapted the style of japanese novels as I'm a translator of JP web novels. I think it's not really that confusing to read dialogues in 「」 than in " ". And 「」 looks more decent to me.

Well I think that for me its incredibly annoying for me to read as I am used to brackets containing announcements.

Ooh.. Maybe you just need time and more exposure to adapt. I've been translating Japanese webnovel for more than 5 years now before I created my site and own novel, so I prefer the beauty of 「」. And brackets in JPWN are 【】 instead of [ ]. Though I will not use it as I don't want Webnovel to ban me for using special characters.

I like the concept, and ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) the how close he is with his family lol. Tbh the background story of how he met all his wives etc sounded more interesting than the current story since so much has happened prior, it takes a while to catch up to all the characters’ backstories and pasts. I would totally read that “prequel” if author will write one. Anyways, would be far more interesting to explore something beyond zombie invasion apocalypse plot. Also, much of the writing is written like a summary of things happened and I think it would be far better to write with more detail to “show” the reader what is happening rather than summarizing after the fact. There’s also too many characters introduced far too quickly. I think you should pace this better.
