The novel had some potential but sadly like many novels author did choose to take the path of the facility, making the mc who is described as a loner stay with a bunch of trash that are likely just gonna make him die fast in a realistic context, but he is the protagonist so he can't die. Also, I understand his love for his family and it's what makes me question what the author thinks he is desperate to find them back so why stay with that bunch of useless trash ? Wish you the best, but sadly gonna have to drop it.

Still make no sense, even if like you say he is not a loner, why would he want to stay with people that will just lead him to his own fall, that's just not logical at all and in the context of an apocalypse it's even dumber.
