Honestly, I'd probably enjoy this story more if I hadn't read Outdoor Webcast first. This feels like a big step down. It's still a decent read, but the main character in this story isn't nearly as entertaining. The whole thing about how hunters are portrayed is kind of weird too. I'd rather see Outdoor Webcast come back even with it's weird Chinese medicine stuff at least it was done in an entertaining way.

It gets pretty exciting later. Even thou he has a "system" he isn't a superman or mystical person. His feats are "peak" human at most. Close knife fights, barely taking down a giant predator right before it gets to him, fighting against time to save endangered animals. I love that other novel too but it feels way more "mystical" while this one has more "realistic" vibes.

My problem is that this doesn't feel realistic at all either. My whole family hunts. Most of this is not realistic. The other one felt more like an adventure and the mc was more entertaining imo.

It is peak human action. It should feel like it's barely at the limits human's can accomplish. Nothing like a cultivator jumping 20 meters. More like a peak human jumping 10 meters (a bit beyond the record atm) or being fast and strong enough to say, idk, take down a bear with a dagger. I mean sure, there are ridiculous moments like instantly taming a falcon, or surviving a tiger attack but that's the thrill! Fighting with a bow against armed poachers, surviving natural disasters, these things CAN happen but here the author explores the excitement of a peak human in these situations. If you want realistic hunting you'd have the guy sit in a boar tree seat for 5 hours and take a shot with a compound bow or sit in a camouflaged deer post for a few days to take a snipe with a hunting rifle.

My point is if you are going unrealistic then you might as well make it fun and make it feel like an adventure. Outdoor webcast did this better imo. You didn't really know what the mc would discover or do. It felt like he was stepping into another world at times. it might have also been the quality of the translation too.

spoilers but it gets crazy pater! fighting somalian pirates, hunting down and live capturing a liger owned by a saudi prince, fighting a bear on horse back with a sword, fighting a poacher to the death in hand to hand. it gets pretty intense.
