It is a gender neutral term in Chinese but martial uncle is not gender neutral. He should've used martial aunt or some other title imo

Calling someone martial uncle is more of acknowledging their status/seniority, doesn’t matter if it’s a boy or a girl since it’s a GENDER NEUTRAL term. And it’s not like the author could’ve used martial aunt师姑 since the literal definition of that is buddhist nun
