I had hoped for more, I like city/kingdom building novels in general and it is my favorite genre to read. I have read the first 10 chapters, it is kind of... bland... it just doesnt catch my attention. I might force myself to read the free chapters, and I rly hope it gets better. My biggest disappointment is the fact that his trip to the real world was not described. He just goes and comes back with a bunch of stuff... no talk about how he acquired them or anything. I mean let's be real... how will you get shotguns in China? it's not like he whipped them out of his arse. Same with swords and bows & arrows. No talk about how he acquired anything really... I would have really liked to see his trip as he meets the people that he does and sells them some stuff. (trip as in before he cured the kid and got scammed) When he came to the city. He didn't personally do much... or it was not described. He would just hand the papers to someone else to handle... I get that it is realistic since I would delegate work like that too if I was in the same situation... but at least tell us the path of him researching how to make a proper water wheel or something. Like a paragraph or two was enough. The chapters are short and there are some inconsistencies when it comes to either translation or maybe the author just doesnt know what he is writing. I will probably read the free chapters and update my review based on that... but for now I have read 25% of what I can read and I'm not impressed. Especially if I have to pay or use free-passes to read the rest.
