This is the kind of novel I love. Coming of age story with supernatural power. I really hope the horror element comes into play soon too. Absolutely amazing novel.

You didn't miss anything at all because in the first 10 chapters, there is no horror within it. But after chapter 10, there are some chapters that has horror elements (I guess). It also contains gore (especially in chapter 16).

Based on the information you have given to me. I could say that you have read until chapter 9 because you mentioned fire sword. That is the only chapter where there is swords included (if we were to exclude the chapters above chapter 10).
