Review Detail of SolarXWings in Embers Ad Infinitum

AHHHH I know I shouldn't count my chickens before they hatch, but the novels that Cuttlefish write are usually amazing! Hope this one lives up... I'll update when I'm done reading the trial.

As of chapter 20, the story isn't bad. Nothing meaningful has happened yet, and there doesn't seem to be a magic system yet, if at all, although there are monsters. A lot of focus is put into guns and other weapons. The main character is a little eccentric, but doesn't actually feel like the main character as the story moves along with a group of people, rather than him individually. There also seems to be some sort of mysterious mind-construct like the palace in LotM.

If you like, feel free to read the background setting posted I as review to get a glimpse into the world. The raw is currently at the 67th chapter. And I can say the story starts to show its true colors at chapter 36, and becomes REALLY interesting at Chapter 59 and onward (with some minor revelation at 46 and 47). Which is unfortunate the trial is formated at 20 free chapter and 20 paid. If not enough people is interested in the novel, the project will be dropped. While non-Chinese readers do have to pay more to read a lot of the content legually, which is understandably not always achievable depending on individual allowances. The translation is still dependent on monatary reasons. I only hope Cuttlefish's reputation gained from LOTM and from information already released about this novel can spark enough popularity to keep this translation going. i wish this novel good luck. In the mean time, let me list out the potential cons that may put people off: 1. The names of most character in this new novel will be Chinese. Which I know put off a lot of readers, from less immersion to unable to really remember the names well, which is all understandable. 2. The style of Cuttlefish's writing. His attention to details and mundane things, even though is aimed to flesh out the world and characters, is OBVIOUSLY not everyone's cup of tea. And some may even regard his overly long-winded details as trash and watery meaningless words. To each their own. No hard feelings. 3. He likes to try new things, which include new narration style, and new genres. Many peole find his "In Modern Time" LOTM side story at the end of LOTM very bizzare, and barely comprehensible (It was a sneak peek into Klein's dream that will happen in LOTM 2). That's the case and point. This time around, Cuttlefish he - GAVE NO INNER MONOLOGUE to the MC, like nada, none, zero. He purposely did so, so that we cannot tell what exactly is his "cheat", or his "strategy". Every piece of information about the MC is not "fed" to us, but rather waved into the story and events. Furthermore, he even got rid of very clear "levels" for the abilities. Making people who are used to "level ups" and clear power systems feel weird, vague, irritating even. This time he wants to explore a power system that "categorzies" abilities based on their real in-novel world application, flexibility, and usefulness. If u don't mind Chinese names, (overly) detailed world and characters filled with mundane tasks and chitchats, MC that you cannot internalize due to no inner monologue, and a world with relatively vague power system presentation that relies on reader's own interpretation of information, then you may have a very enjoyable time with this novel. Lastly Key tone for this novel: Psychotic, Comedic, Every tag that you can think of for Fallout, Wasteland, Borderlands, Cyberpunk 2077, and Disco Elysium.

what's so good about lord of mysteries.I read 400 chapters and found it totally boring. Power system was shitty fully money dependent. what really pissed me off was Audrey. such a Mary Sue character. She became strong by throwing money.

Dude do you know what a Mary Sue is? Audrey is not a Mary Sue by any definition. Also you say the power system is money dependant (better said trade dependant, although hunting is also valid) and is shitty but it's really better than most of the crap on this app as it allows better pacing and leads to clearer goals throughout the novel it also has the added benefit of actually making sense unlike most other novels (especially cultivation novels). Even then the main strength of LOTM is that it's actually well written and has had genuine thought put into it by cuttlefish, something that you can only find in a handful on novels on this site and if you factor in its good prose is practically unique.

Audrey is gorgeous, rich as hell, becomes powerful without any real struggle. Power system surely is money based you can buy anything with money( potion, artifact, information) without any tempering with oneself. they just have to act. Well can you tell me anything good about the novel except well structured sentences that will attract me to read it. I just want to know if I should continue reading it or not. What's with the massive following for the novel

To each their own. It really is heavily dependent on one’s own tastes. The entire story line is centred around mysticism. The whole “power system” isn’t really supposed to be like the other Chinese web novels on this site. And sure, the money thing can be considered a bit off putting for others, but considering the context of the era in the novel, it isn’t something that can be helped. Not to mention that the higher sequences will require far more risks than simply buying ingredients but you’ll have to read more to find out later. In the early stages it might appear simple and easy, but it becomes much more dangerous after Sequence 5. In the further parts of the novel, every major character (including Audrey) will have to go through their own personal struggles, some more than others. I will admit that Audrey doesn’t seem to often be in as much danger as the main character, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that she will be a Mary Sue. Again, this is in the later parts of the novel. Remember, the whole novel itself is mainly about mystery and Lovecraftian Horror. It’s a story that isn’t meant to be very straightforward, and the main character is often trying to discover ancient secrets that are buried within the history of this world. You might not like it, and that’s fine, but to most others it is very engaging for the kind of story it is meant to be.

Personally, I think it still depends on our own individual tastes. However I will introduce to you some key events that might interest you. Around 362 is when one of the major villains of this novel is introduced, but we still only get to see a small glimpse to how truly frightening he can be. But trust me this character becomes much more intimidating later on. One of the best things about this novel is that the villains are all clever and reserved. They aren’t your typical arrogant/stupid/careless antagonists. 375-380 is when Klein starts to demonstrate his own personal capabilities as a Beyonder. 470 is when the plot REALLY starts to thicken and it enters into the climax of the current volume. It’s also one of the most exciting and thrilling moments in the novel for me. It’s quite a sudden twist, but after this I find that the story becomes far more engaging. From ch 483 (volume 4) and onwards (into the other volumes) is when Klein gets to be more proactive and badass in the Beyonder world. We get to see him climb higher in the sequences and become more combat proficient and capable. He also starts to slowly uncover more secrets of this strange new world and understand the true hidden dangers of becoming a Beyonder, as well as the reason for his transmigration.
