So, the FL has gone back in time and the ML is a violent yandere. We learn that in the FL's previous life, he would lock her up and forcefully take her when he was angered by her. In her past life, she was in love with someone else, but the ML refused to let her go. So, he's a true yandere. The author tries to make it romantic -- you know, it's because of his deep love for her that he can't let her go, he even died to protect her, he loves her even when she's fat and disfigured, yada, yada, yada. Despite being mistreated, the FL realizes that she loves the ML after he dies in order to protect her. When she goes back in time, she decides to love the ML properly. The ML spoils her once she starts "treating him properly," the guy she loved in her past life was scum that was using her, etc., etc. The author uses all this to try and redeem the ML. Despite the trainwreck of an ML, I kept reading this because I love second chance stories and the FL truly had a pitiful life. Well, I wish I hadn't wasted my time. There are a lot of little issues in the story, but I'll bring up the two that bother me the most: 1. The butterfly effect doesn't happen where it should. For example, it's stressed over and over again that in the past life, despite being treated poorly, the FL would always cover for her abusive family and never talked badly about them, so the ML never suspected she was being abused. This time, she's more open about how they treat her. One of the consequences is that the ML cancels an $80 million contract he gave her family's company. Well, when the family tries to get it back, the FL reminisces about how they also tried to do so in her past life. But in her past life, why would the ML take back the contract out of anger if the FL always covered for them? This is just one example. There are multiple instances where things should only be happening because of changes the FL made, yet the author claims they happened in her past life. To me, it seems like the author wanted the FL to be able to use her past life as an advantage that they didn't really commit to the butterfly effect. 2. This is a big spoiler that hasn't been translated as of writing this review. I found out through MTL, so don't read on if you haven't gotten past the 500s! The big twist is that the FL's sister (Manxue) and mom aren't actually her sister and mom. Her real mom's twin (FakeMom) killed her and took her place. The problem? The FL's sister is older than her. If Manxue is older, then how did FakeMom trick her twin into thinking that was her actual child? Plus, the FL's mom wasn't actually killed secretly until the FL was older, so FakeMom left Manxue with her twin for so long? I'm trying to wrap my head around how all of this works. I guess I'll have to wait for the real TL to see if there's a reasonable explanation. It would make more sense if Manxue was younger. I'm baffled that the author did it this way if she was going to include this twist.

Thinking of it now, the evil twin may have been behind the loss of the good twin's baby as part of her long-term scheme.

The ML r*pes the FL as a way to punish her in front of the man she loved in her previous life. He wasn’t drugged or drunk or any of that - he was just upset that she tried to elope with his brother...something that was even true in the first place. The way they constantly try to jusitfy this by saying it was a punishment is honestly disturbing AND the characters are unlikable, especially the ML who has the IQ level of a toddler who can’t get what he wants. The FL is incredibly stupid too, you’re in love with a man who kidnapped you, held you against your will, let your repuatation sink and forced himself on you as punishment? And you’re not even sure he really loves you? Give me a break.
