...or the reader's just fed up with bland female characters practically throwing themselves at the main character. If there's gonna be a Harem, at least write it competently. No "You saved my life, therefore my life is yours.", kind of situations. I used to like those kind of stories but its become increasingly stale at this point. The... simplistic writing style, I should say, most Chinese Authors use doesn't help either.

Personally, I don't like romance in novels unless im reading a romance novel. It's annoying how the author puts emphasis on a relationship and slows down the plot. The romance can be in the background and have the same effect. As for harem novels? Only some of those actually develop the girls with some character building. Most of them just throw girl after girl and you start to forget who is who. Sure the girls can have some story in their little arc, but after that? They become side notes. Barely mentioned expect when the MC wants to flirt or need someone to save!

I wish I could dislike reviews. I'm actually just tired of how the romances play out. So it's better to not have any at all.

In my honest opinion, a novel without romance is utterly bland. Well, for those people that went through a breakup or fear of the opposite gender might find such no-romance good to read, it's utterly boring to read such stuff for me. I mean, look, the mc is utterly op and a badass, and has all the looks and qualifies to attract women...I find it utterly boring to read such novels if no romance is involved in it. Sure, I hate dramas, but it's not difficult to write a slice-of-life romance without drama. A harem is a symbol of status for the mc. Now I'm not saying that women are objects to collect...but a man having a harem means that he has the capability to care for, provide and take care of those women. Now, from what I can infer, those guys that says they hate harems, is because the harem novels are written with one-dimensional female leads.. not because of it being a harem.. Now I too hate novels with female leads being written off as just being a glorified side characters. But for those males that says they hate harems because they're a symbol of perversion? Lol dude romance spoiled so many stories with good plot. As for harem there are too many novels with the mc meeting one new girl after another and then forgetting the girls before them. Btw I'm not a harem hater, but I'd rather have the novel not have romance. The only romance I've ever read and liked was in martial arts master, and I don't even know how many books I've read by now.

And then there are other's like coiling dragon and super gene which have okay romance, but then the mc moved on to getting stronger so then the girl is basically forgotten. I'm talking about romance here, not falling in love for no reason as most novels do. I suggest martial arts master for you guys who like romance, to see what romance actually is. It's not just liking the other person and then randomly getting together. [Edit] I just remembered Reaper of the Martial World which I like but haven't read in a while to pile up chapters.
