amaturewriter:female stories are written from a female perspective...and thats a turn off for Male readers, cause its weird [ nothing wrong, just weird ]. I've read a couple stories from FL and they weird. they always make the important male characters completely OC..like characters like zoro, ace, itachi, shisui, minato are completely OC and are more like Korean/chinese CEO style MC's or edgy/shy MC's that just want the FL and are more often than not neutered. like characters like minato and itachi are just avg, whilst the FL is hyped and powered up and intelligent...and that sucks. I am all for OP MC, regardless of gender but why neuter the characters? There also the fact that the FL always need to have fked up past or is betrayed, regardless if its romance, and its always explored indepth. its tragic/angst,etc. thats sad. I dont want to read some sad shit. Also if ML stories are about MC trying to bust a nut, the FL stories are just emotional rollercoasters with multiple love interesting's fighting for the FL, or some thing like that.[ obviously I am sure there are stories that are different but all I read are the same, and I read like 50 to 80 on here but mostly on FF.net and wattpad ]

Phantowhite:I can only say you have an incredibly skewed story pool. I've read tons of FL stories that have the characters exactly right as the original source material. About them always having edgy backstories, tbh I have to say I've seen far more male Mc's with tragic backstories than female ones. Not to mention that again is pretty skewed since I've seen plenty that has an average girl just suddenly in some random world and told good luck. I've seen the same truck-kun stories for females the same as males. not all female lead stories have them chasing after multiple guys or lovee interests either, especially the yuri ones. Really it sounds like you've just had a pretty skewed experience thus far. If that's all you've seen I can imagine why you would be turned off from them, but just like female lead stories have their overdone cliches, so do male lead stories. it's up to you to find the gems hidden among them.

Phantowhite:what about yuri? that'll determine if I can give you anything too good since that's what I like to read the most. Fanfic only or are originals good as well?

amaturewriter:anything..no yuri if possible, if its there its fine. [ if romance ] just nothing sad/angsty/tragic...like a betrayed/broken hearted FL being fixed, etc. [ no romance ]as long as the FL isnt having a harem or something like that. if its dark, also fine, just give a heads up.

Phantowhite:The Arrancar: it's a bleach fan-fic and it's pretty good. The FL is a hollow as you can expect from the title. No romance so far but it's pretty good. The Briar Rose of Gremory: a dxd fan-fic that's getting rewritten currently so it's only up to 3 chapters. Before that, though it was pretty good. takes place waaay before canon and I'm pretty sure the author said no harem. It is a gender-bend though but the MC doesn't really harp on it much. Should be a yuri but again it's only 3 chapters right now so anything could change. basically, anything by Commonnerfer will be fine as well. Writes a bunch of fan-fic that takes place in the same universe. One of them is a harem though, can't remember which one. Also, all are yuri. Breaking The Limits: A DBZ Fanfic: is also another good one. I mean the mc is a saiyan and the planet blows up but i wouldn't really count that as tragic. plus she saves her family anyway. also yuri. A White Snake: is an original and it's pretty good as well. I don't actually remember the beginning but i think it's about as tragic as the typical male lead story. I think she had cancer or something and died in a hospital. no romance so far but that might also be tagged a yuri can't remember. The Steam Empire: is an amazing story, 5/5 for me at least. Really underappreciated. Has a very strong and independent female lead. I think her parents were murdered by her brother or something but If you can get past that I honestly can't recommend it enough. also a yuri but only a single love interest. some other guys like her but she's not interested in them. very human characters. Hellsing: I reincarnated as seras victoria: another pretty good fanfic. i think this one was a gender bender but again it isn't really brought up ever. no romance either. I read it and never watched hellsing but I could still enjoy it. Evolution of the God slayer: An original. The mc is pretty evil tbh. also might be a yuri, been a while since i've read it tbh so I don't remember much. Fate/Gatcha Infinite Salt Works: Another one i haven't read in a while but I recall it being funny I think? pretty sure there was no romance but I could be wrong on that one. check the tags? I believe it takes place in DxD maybe? Attack on Titan Alternate: was good from what I remember. (getting into the territory of stuff I haven't read in awhile) It might have been a yuri there also might have been no romance i don't remember. A Reincarnated Demon's life of wonder: This on is on scribble hub. Also might be a gender bender. Very fun story with no romance at the moment. The game of gods: on royalroad and scribble hub (might also be here haven't checked) The mc is insane from what i remember (i think she actually had a title called crazy in a good way), really funny story. was this a yuri? probably knowing my track record. powers of majin buu in a fantasy world: i think this is the only complete story on the list. no romance. mc behaves just like a majin would. it was interesting from what I can remember. isekai'd shoggoth: on scribble hub. this one is a yuri harem, but i recommend it none the less. the mc is very smart and op. some nice kingdom building here. I ended up leaving out a lot of the good but not great harem stories I've read. didn't even get into the ones on novel updates. hopefully, this list can get you started somewhere though.
