My hypothesis that cultivation somehow makes you stupid just keeps on getting more proof.

Well, my hypothesis is that cultivation in general dose that, a character or two showing brain activity can be regarded as a exception. If we take a novel = a universe there are around 3-4 characters maybe more that show brain activity but the number of cultivators that are active in that "universe" can be counted in the hundred of thousands even millions. I have a formula somewhere that goes something like .. the longer a cultivator spends on a cultivation level and as the age increases the mind starts to become affected. These effects can be seen in cultivators that are thousand of years old acting like a normal middle age human and those older getting stuck in their ways and not accepting any new concepts. (I do not really am writing a thesis on cultivation vs. the mind)

see this is where Reverend insanity breaks out of this .. there r cultivators there that existed like a million years ago (max rank ones) 9 of them to be exact .. but .. all of those guys had made moves/setup some things in such a way that 1 single move can change the whole flow of the event going on. those people has brain level beyond 9000

Didn’t even notice. I like to say that a character’s intellect peaks at the intellect of the author. However, only the best of authors can have smarter MC’s than themselves. Having an idiot MC in itself represents a lot of times the attitude the author has towards his own novel. Authors that truly care, and put blood, sweat, and tears into their novels will almost always have smarter MC’s. Most of the time, the intellect of an MC that is acknowledged by readers is usually due to corresponding cause and effect by said MC’s decisions. The good authors usually have intelligent MC’s due to them planning out their novel and not writing on a whim, thus giving them the correct decisions to be made towards their characters.

Authors don’t necessarily need to be smart, what they just have to be is clever, showing what you are good at and using deception and misdirection to hide what you are bad at. An author does not have to be a genius to write a genius MC, they just have to weave the illusion of genius into his words. I once read an interview with an author. It was about how to get readers to believe far-fetched scientific mambo-jambo and not make it sound like nonsense. He said the key is to build trust between the author and the reader. First, you have to show them you know your stuff. No common sense mistakes or other smart people’s faux pas. You start small, with a simple things that people without college degrees can understand and follow. Professors often say that if you cannot explain something to a kid, you do not understand what you are talking about yourself and are just trying to sound smart by using big words. After that, use bigger things, but give only just enough to not leave holes. But at the same time don’t go into detail because the reader wants to read a fiction book, not a school textbook. Now that the reader trusts you and knows you are competent, you can slowly move out of the comfort zone of practical science and drift towards theory; and before the reader realizes what is going on, they will already believe the most far-fetched theories because they have gone too far down the rabbit hole and believe everything you write. And most importantly, they will believe that you actually understand what you are writing about. Tv shows often use this, the character is shown doing basic smart people things that can be understood by those who have not studied. (pictures ilustrations help out) And after that, when the character needs to show their smart side in deeper things, they go into metaphors, talking to "kid" (another not so smart character), making things work because it will sound smart while not going into depth. Basically, a good author is a swindler that swindlers readers into believing while sprouting believable nonsense.

Later in the novel, it's explained that the intelligence score does not reflect IQ, but the capacity of the individual to connect with the elements, which is essential to become a mage. Although this is explained later, this whole novel is basically a giant plothole.

A crossbows power is limited by the mechanical force of the items that it is made of, but the bow on the other hand should be the go to weapon for most body forging cultivators. But they are kind of useless when you have long range spells and flying swords, and expensive to forge arrows that you may lose or have to recover after every encounter.

when they are doing the initial stages on cleansing, the blood, marrow, flesh, bones, and the like, they should not forget the brain.

If you continued reading you would learn that the Intelligence stat has nothing to do with being smart. It has to do with Magic and controlling elements and spells.
