I don’t think the author understands how ki works, it is made of genki (body) shoki (mind) and yuki (spirit) genki is self explanatory, shoki and yuki make up the other half of your ki, if you lose your fighting spirit, or(yuki) you can’t use that part of your ki, if you can’t keep calm and lose your confidence then you lose your shoki.
