Come on dude. He is a young kid in the beginning, who has seen nothing of the world. If he were ruthless from the very beginning, he would just be a psychopath. Give him some time to make some mistakes and learn about the world.

Even the most patient man will get tired of that kind of story after having read 10 such novels. It's just annoying after that point, like "yeah yeah, next he's going to make stupid mistakes in order to grow up, can't wait to read about that."

Whelp I guess I gotta actually try this novel since the high rating seems legit and not just the author deleting reviews since there are actually low star reviews lol

To each their own, but reading the same plot unfold over and over and over again and enjoying it is ludicrous

tbh this is one of the most ruthless characters ever, not sure how far you read but he commits genocide just to get back at heavens which results in millions of innocent deaths. His cultivation forces him to kill ANYONE who attacks him, heck it even makes him kill ANYONE who helps him in a fight because he cannot have a safety net, not sure how much more ruthless you want...

How is he not ruthless i mean he destroyed the middle world and killed billions of intelegent lifeforms just so he could he could fight middle heaven when sombody was trying to help him while he was fighting the mc killed the person saying that people trying to interfere with his fights are a stain in his pure path to power

Have you ever heard of character development? I rather find those MCs who have the perfect mindset in the beginning boring. Well, if you don't pay attention to character development, then it wouldn't matter anyway. It also wouldn't make sense for an mc to be perfect in the beginning after just experiencing one tragedy or hardships.

But of course if you don't want MCs to make stupid mistakes, there are still those reincarnation novels wherein the MC started out as some world's peak existence but died and ended up reincarnating as a mortal kid who was constantly bullied for no reason

Character development does not mean reading about a borderline retard for the first couple of chapters and then getting the normal version after. There are plenty of smart kids in the world, you don't have to be a reincarnator to be "ruthless" at the start. Believe it or not, not every kid is a saint.

You have to know that the only reason why we readers seem smart is because we know more than the characters themselves. We know what they don't know so any mistakes from their part that we know that could have been avoided is because they did not see it coming. We saw it coming because authors let us but the characters have no idea what's coming for them. In reality, we're even more stupid than the characters and we make more mistakes than a mediocre character depicted by the authors.

HOLD UP! On the note about “ruthless” I’d like to point out a HUGE misunderstanding, ruthless does NOT = smart/intelligent. And likewise smart/intelligent does NOT = ruthless. Another thing to note about “reincarnation” troupe? Previous knowledge does NOT = intelligence. Reincarnate a moron and give him prior knowledge. He will still be a moron. Just saying. Oh, I’m curious what qualifies as “ruthless” if the complete execution of entire realms/worlds does not? Yanno, just curious? Tbh it’s been a hot minute since I read this novel. However if memory serves. My only “huh?” Or “gripe” about it was a personal confusion about the overall conflict against “Heaven” Now I understood the conflict fine. What made me go “huh?” Was that to me? Dude man basically enslaved himself to his desires/P2P(Path to Power)/Dao Heart? So for me, I always got stuck wondering if the desire to destroy(phrase it however you want) Heaven was actually worth basically selling his soul for power. I’m a free spirit sorta dude. So this MC is super interesting to me because he is SO not anything like me.
