I don't really understand how webnovel pick what to translate. This novel is not really appropriate with international audience on how cringe the nationalism in in it. First 50 chapters made me dropped it. Having a futuristic technology really gave you an upper hand but that doesn't mean you should be a arrogant person that just shit on other race and nationality. Main goal should have been business and universal communication would promote better communication with other nationality to avoid misunderstandings. But the author's writing just make the story unlikable. A really wasteful use of a good plot. It is pitiful for the translators to translate this and won't profit from it as a result of how inappropriate the story for international audience.

Speak for yourself. Most people aren't weak minded crybabies that care so much about people from other countries being nationalists and vying for their own interest. The MC and author are Chinese, so this Chinese nationalist worldview is normal and alright. Also, international audience is not synonymous with liberal globalist audience. Many of us are able to read about a nationalist culture without feeling attacked, and are also able to read nationalist fiction and taking the punches. Honestly, with the harsh criticism from nationalist perspectives of different peoples, you can gain some valid insights on your own perspective as long as you are open minded enough, but are also critical enough. To say something is 100% good or bad without knowing the details is foolish.

I haven't actually read this book, it was just in my notifications, but the reason i'm here on Webnovel is to read about fantasy, to get away from the politics and countries of the world, not to hear how China is the best country or something. I won't get offended over a book, but when it's full of nationalism or even racism then I can't bring myself to enjoy it and instead just find myself feeling annoyed and bored. You just said he's Chinese so him having a 'Nationalistic' worldview is fine and alright which I don't really get your point, so if he was Japanese and said China is the best, then that's bad, but he's Chinese so it's good? I have no idea, let's move on. My thoughts are basically 'If you want to be nationalistic towards your country, then do it, but i'm here to read a book on fantasy, I couldn't care less that you think China is amazing and everything because you're chinese.' Not to mention, the last 2 'event' notifications I got both have many negative reviews because of Chinese 'nationalism' and I'm starting to see a trend in what Webnovel is sponsoring. I can take 'punches' about Chinese authors being 'nationalistic' but my point is.. why the **** would I want to? I got here to read a fun story, not hearing how china is the best from another perspective or whatever you're going on about. Main point is: I'm not 'crying' over a Chinese author saying China is the best and writing all the other countries as worse or whatever, I simply don't care about China. I'm here for the fantasy of another world, not how China is so good, and when the readers are from all over the world, being 'nationalistic' is only going to limit and turn off potential readers that are literally everywhere but China.

I certainly don't want to see a novel with China number 1 written every 5 pages

Most of these novels aren't that on the point with that kind of rhetoric. Just here and there when it comes to international dealings, which is normally not most of the novel. I didn't read this one for other reasons, but from other comments, it's only a minor aspect of the novel. Honestly it's an exaggeration to be offended by it. Don't like it, don't read it. You're on a Chinese webnovel site.

You're here to read something that isn't all of the content on the website, so again, you're the problem here. Most people don't even comment, so the views and rating is more accurate(though still not completely) than the comments whether something is a popular opinion or not, so whatever you say is pretty irrelevant. People really don't care that these Chinese authors are nationalist and read those stories regardless of their feelings on it. If it bothers you that much, it's on you to leave and not read it. There are many novels on this website that don't have modern day aspects and don't go into politics. Go read those. To give a review on it to steer away viewers with the same opinion is fine, I suppose, but more than one is redundant and unneeded.

Like I said, the only reason i'm here is because my inbox had a red dot on it and I wondered what the notification was about, that's why I'm here, and I find it annoying that something as stupid as 'nationalism' makes out China as better than my country along with every country. Again, it doesn't affect me all that much that there's 'nationalism' in a novel, it's just boring, unrealistic and stupid when an Author makes out China as the best while actively bashing every other country. My reply to you was the only comment that I made on this novel before leaving, so I haven't repeated myself or unnecessarily gave my opinion. This is a novel about supernatural powers and whatnot, so fantasy. Why in the hell is a magic, fantasy world going out of its way to make a single country seem so much better than every other country just because they were born there. My point stands that it is unnecessary and boring to everyone who's not chinese, and even many chinese people find it annoying. I found many reviews actively calling out and complaining about the 'nationalism', and I this time I will repeat myself. Why the **** would I want to or care to read a novel, fantasy or not, where the 'China Number 1' one premise is prevalent. I'm fine with 'nationalistic' novels, people can write whatever they want, but like I said before, it was literally on my home pages inbox, and when I see a big red button on my inbox, of course i'm gonna click. This mentality of this novel turns off almost everyone not from China, yet is sponsored as an 'event' in every Webnovel readers inbox.

Again, comments aren't everything. You are basing this idea that "no one likes this" on nothing but your own ego and ideology. It's simply not true. Maybe a lot of people don't like it, but most people either don't care, have thick skin and can ignore those aspects for the rest of the story, or they like that part(well, probably only a Chinese nationalist could truly appreciate it in this way, naturally). You find it annoying, and you replied to me only with your reasoning, which was completely irrelevant to my point, as your opinion is hardly the majority, despite it being a common opinion. Most people who don't care, for example, simply read and don't bother with comments. I'd say that demographic is actually the largest.

I umm.. never said 'no one likes this', like at all. Ego and ideology? Dude, my ego is non-existent, I quite simply don't care, I was just stating a fact. I am not offended by 'Nationalism' at all, it literally doesn't 'bother' me in the slightest, i'm not gonna be offended by someone's idiotic ideals. When I said I found it 'annoying', I didn't mean immediately quit the novel and rant about it in the comments, just that reading it would be like 'Who really cares, yea yea china number 1, move on'. You called people cry-babies and weak-willed, while it's quite simply not true, they just, quite justifiably, don't like reading something that makes a certain race seem superior, especially when it makes absolutely no sense other than the authors own beliefs. I don't know if i'm unable to convey my tone in this comment, but imagine this in the most casual, uncaring tone you can, because that's how i'm writing this. My opinion is hardly the majority? Oh, i'm sure it's to a lesser extent, to the point they won't even voice their opinions, hell I only commented because you were insulting people who were annoyed for a genuine reason, but i'm sure almost everyone would prefer it to be actually realistic and not 'China number 1'. So, yes, my opinion is the majority, just most people don't care enough to voice their opinion, hell the only reason I commented was because I haven't even read this and your comment about how everyone who believes the review is just a weak-willed crybaby. We're quite simply at an impasse, as all of our reasons are based on opinions and non-statistical or provable facts. In the end, i'm here for fun and entertainment, and ahem 'nationalism' absolutely cannot provide this, which is why when the novels that Webnovel specifically sponsors are like this, it feels dumb and mildly annoying. I don't care about race or whatever, stop judging people on their race (not you), 'nationalism', which apparently in this novel consists of making everyone not-chinese as evil, dumb or weak.. well it might as well be racism.. which is something dumb and pointless in the first place. We're both the type of people who feel an almost compulsive need to reply and not left something unfinished, so I find this situation we're in amusing, but in the end. Nationalism/Racism = dumb, People aren't weak-willed cry-babies because they don't like their race being indirectly belittled, and the fact that Webnovel sponsors such novels and almost forces me to notice them is fucking stupid. There, did I miss anything? :)

Well, that's pretty much what I said, anything else? Unless you'd like to disagree and say people enjoy this 'nationalism', which I'm preeetty sure they don't. There's a different between not minding and liking something after all. I know you're the type of person to say 'Oh wow so you've resorted to petty insults and quotes, hereby showing that you're wrong but can't accept it.' I'm guessing you couldn't really find anything wrong with what I said so tried to make me look stupid, meh, who cares, though could you not reply? When I see a red dot on my inbox I feel like, a really strong need to reply, it's probably like a disorder or something. I could just not reply but it'd be annoying for a bit. Other than that, goodbye, I guess.

You can assume you're correct. I don't care to contextualize further because the arrogance and absurdity of that statement erased any sentiments to further respond. Have a good one.

Honestly who cares about nationalism? Why is it so wrong to make your country great? The hypocrisy really sucks these all people talk like they dont care about their country at all. Reading chinese novel and expecting it to be non-nationalistic is wet dream cause even western fiction tend to glorify their culture like roman empire and some bullshit. Everyone does so its normal mate. Just roll your eyes and ignore it or get lost.

thats bs right there you are a westerner probably so you find it as normal as eating breakfast and lunch when you really see nationalism but while others do it, it instantly becomes nationalism. when you see greatest empire in history in youtube ? you see what? roman empire? but is really true? do you know great wall of china? Qin dynasty? the han dynasty? i mean come on nationalism is everywhere in youtube and many hollywood movies. i can see cause i am not westerner while you are oblivious. I am not chinese either but at least i can see both sides gloryfying their stuffs.

both us and china have immense contribution to human civilization so they have earned the right to flaunt while my country is weak and hasnt contributed much. Even my weak country has all glorified history in textbook like defeating british bla bla even though technically we lost almost 1/3 of our territory and become client state which was utter humiliation and defeat.
