If there's one thing I like about this book it's the humanness of the characters. The MC is named Syn supposedly because her life is a life of sin as a prostitute. She takes on that lifestyle for the sake of her family. Like other heroic characters, she dismisses the good in her life for the sake of the good in the life of others. This comes with a price, she sees herself as a commodity and less as a person. When her emotions get the better of her when her humanity peeks its head she sees it as an obstacle. There's a chance for her to stop looking at herself as a commodity and as a person once more, but can she take that chance?
