If you continue with this, I would suggest delving into the mystery of how he became self-aware, if there’s some higher power or fluke in the system behind it, or just develop the character in his journey of self-discovery. There’s so many things you can do with this. But you also gotta explain the chicken. What does it do, exactly? Tell us!
