This novel is an interesting read, holding great suspense throughout. It has a fun concept, which has of course been attempted before, but being sucked into a game allows for endless fantastic possibilities. The plot is twisting and engaging, and there's a lot of room for development in the future! The novel is filled with luscious description, although perhaps it is sometimes over detailed? Obviously this is the author's style, and I don't mind that, but detail for detail's sake sometimes halts the reading flow. Occasionally, vocabulary and phrases are used without proper knowledge of their meaning and purpose. I understand that this is to give an air of prosperity and importance to the characters, but it would be worth checking through. In regards to the first chapters, the scale of money feels a bit off. Perhaps it is trying to reflect the perspectives of the characters? But this is not made particularly clear, as every item is attributed similar descriptive value. However, I do like how you simply but engangingly described the chess pieces and their rules. As a chess player, it was quite reassuring. All in all, reading this novel was a fun experience, and I appreciate the effort that was put in. There is clearly a lot of love and care for the story, and I commend the outcome!
