This is pretty good. Give it AT LEAST until chapter 6 to decide if you like it/hate it, but this is gold. The concept goes against everything the typical protagonist does in favor of a better direction that makes this book the awesome read it is. I really love how no character is strictly good or bad.

LIKEWell, strictly speaking, the pure fact that the MC wants to become human is a very big trop so what you said there is wrong! If he wanted to become another creature or thing or maybe adapt himself as a lich (In a properly true evil fashion) then the novel/ book would be different. I've seen plenty of novels while not depicting the good and evil show the MC moving towards the path of humanity. Just for once it would be nice to see a non prejudice MC, a non hypocritical MC, and a non complete idiot MC (I'M NOT SAYING THIS MC IS DUMB). Just saying that there's one been one book/ novel to forfill these requirements, and that's a shame.
I meant by "Goes against everything" that there has been no protagonist that does not want to go learn mana or spells in favor of just fighting. While the MC (SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT) does get spells and stuff he never had before, it is not what he seeks out. He doesn't want to be strong and DeFy ThE HeAvEnS. He was immortal (at least I think) and ended it because he got bored. (get it?). Although, yes, I do agree that wanting to become human is a big trope, and the MC does have some of that. I guess there has to be some familiarity within the MC which is why the author did that.

Oh okay so you meant like the opposite of opposing the heavens got it. My babd and sorry about that I guess I mistook what you said. But not wanting to oposse the heavens and that kind of thing isn't a new thing, there have been a few stories that do just that! For example, read a the book called "I don't want to oppose the heavens". While he does try to get strong he doesn't want to do it. In fact he doesn't even need to. But I d I also get your point, the bored lich also has its own thing where the MC is bored of power.
