Now, I owe you TWO reviews), a friend of mine suggested that I read your own story because it refers to the Song of the Yue Boatman, not knowing that the Yue Boatman was actually a woman. I always imagined him as a wholesome elderly gentleman, for whatever reason. I am so excited to read your story once I am done with my exams, you have no idea. I love historically accurate stories. Now, about my own, humble, irregularly updated story. I am a weird one. Readers will learn more about background once we actually get the female character out of the palace. Which, with how descriptive and annoying I am, might take a while. Unlike Jenjibread and yourself who actually get to the point, there will be so many fillers in between this arc and the Xiongnu part that everyone will just fall asleep or forget this story ever existed. I am somewhat flattered that you are reading it, however, since compared to Jenjibread who is a freakin' institution of historical romance, this little story is not very popular.

I guess that's what called yuan-fen in Chinese :) And I'm so glad to see people like you and jenjibread who are keen on history and willing to read historical fiction more on the history part rather than the fiction part. Don't worry about your irregular updated story. Inspiration doesn't come easy. LOL, I actually get to the point and have not many fillers in between is because I have no idea on how to make the story more romantic though. About the Song of the Yue Boatman, the ancient historical record about it only consists of a few lines. It's not even clear if it's a young woman or an elderly gentleman. Therefore, it's not wrong if you have imagined the boatman as an elderly gentleman. While for me, the song resounded to me as a young girl yearning and longing to get recognition from the prince. I guess that's how historical fiction should evolve around the gap left by the historian. For sure, the term "Lord Ejun's Embroidered Robe" is to show someone with a high-level position gave favor to someone from low position. Whether to male or female, it's actually undefined. Although later on, the term is used as a term for LGBT men endearment to show favour among men. So many interpretations, therefore I used my own interpretation to write my historical-fiction.
