The synopsis is bull**** this story does not play in england and is in no way historically accurate. Its a good slice of live and village building story. How a lord over 3000 citizens calls himself king is beyond me though.

Aren´t you a little too harsh

Geraldrold
GeraldroldLv13

3 stars is too harsh???? Just because everyone gives 5 stars without reading anything doesn't mean they deserve 5 stars... 1 star is **** and 5 stars is omg this is literally the best book ever written.. It would have been 4 stars if the synopsis didn't lie

Stone_Monkey:Aren´t you a little too harsh

Stone_MonkeyLv15

You misunderstood I didn't think it was harsh to grade it a three, however giving it a three only because the synopsis isn´t entirely accurate is a little unfair in my opinion at least.

You know that tge score is an average of ?5? Different categories?

Sorry, I don´t really understand what you mean.

I'm saying that the world building score tanked all the other scores. Some of those were also not 5 stars

It was common for Dark Age era barons to live like 'kings' over any patch of dirt they controlled. Even in cases - most of them - where they paid nominal subservience to a local lord, it was only a case of interests being preserved. One reason William the Conqueror toured England and destroyed castles and forts was because in the event a local baron decided to defy the king, a seige would take months to resolve. Picture that times 100 different barons forted up inn their castles and deciding they were tired of taking orders. Effectively, even a town with a population of 3000, so long as there stood a castle over it during an age where seige engines and equipment were lacking, meant they were kings. I recall reading somewhere that the ratio between defenders and attackers in a seige situation went anywhere between 4 ~ 10 times in order to carry out a successful seige. That meant that if a particular baron decided to keep 200 men in his castle - a large proportion being bowmen if this is England, crossbowmen in France - then any prospective conquerer might have required between 800 and 2000 men to achieve success. Now, take those numbers and factor in logistics during that age. Disease given an army out in the open. Exposure to the elements...Plus, if it was England, consider how long it took to make a passing - if not expert - archer. Then the money to pay soldier salaries and provisions. Plus keeping a sufficiently large force back home to prevent being backstabbed... I really wonder how William the Conqueror managed it all. Personally, I feel he should have been awarded the title of 'The Great' for his achievements. That being said, the first chapter does state that it was the town that had a population of 3000 and that taking it would mean the destruction of the kingdom. a Again, this view was not wrong. It was in very rare cases where the fall of a kingdom's capital did not mean the end of a kingdom. Most of the leading factors of the kingdom would be found within capitals. The reason Rome was such a valuable prize to the barbarians long after the Empire's capital had moved to Constantinople was because Rome, historically, was the spiritual, cultural, and social heart of the Empire.

Thank you so much for your great insight that you had shared recently. It was an eyeopener and yes, I agree with you that the town of 3000 was considered as a kingdom to them. Give me even a 1000 physical townfolks before me and I would be wowed by it. Cheers~

So I have to admit I read only up to chapter 15 and all what I’m going to say now is purely based on the little what I have read. But at this point I think I will drop this light novel for the reasons as followed 1) I have problems to connect to the main character as well as the rest of the crew. This is mainly due to the fact that none of them really seems to have any profile whatsoever. All is great and all are nice and everything is perfect. There are basically no real inner conflicts. 2) The world building is non existing. You are in some country called England that is purely fictional as obviously there are banana trees and maybe even crocodiles existing in that area. But this is not actually the worst part as I could live with that. The real problem is that the structure of the world isn’t either explained or plays any role for any of the characters... as obviously there is no real connection to England in the 16th century either or to any explained or shown hegemony. Why am I saying this? Well if you are a “kingdom” destroyed by some mercenaries who claims the land? At this point it seems people do a 3 day walk and simply settle down without any worry about things like taxes by whomever the land is actually owned .... which certainly is not the prince or the people or otherwise the necessity of kingship or kingdoms would be not necessary. It might also be the case that my understanding of what a king is in this story is wrong but it’s not explained so if at all it’s not my fault but the authors. 3) While there isn’t much of inner conflicts visible there certainly are outer conflicts which are based on the “let’s build a village trope. While this certainly is interesting the lack there of character as mentioned under (1) makes it for naught for me. There is no excitement for the characters so why would I feel excitement for what they achieve? 4) Author tries to write in some romance ... sort of but for me it greatly suffers from (1) again let alone that how this romance is forced into a partnership is in my opinion ridiculous at best and missing the best part to explain why something evolves to that stage. It simply isn’t enough to state that one has been childhood “friends”? despite steep class difference from the get go. 5) Blind follower-ship is another problem I have. Again the author wasted potential in his story progression by giving him followers to his site that simply follow his whims to some degree just because he is their former “King’s” son even though they could do better on their own and probably better on their own instead taking him in between their mid while risking to be raided yet again.... why? So to sum it up my problem with this story is that it doesn’t sufficiently explain why people do what they do. For people that don’t care about this and simply love the building a village trope I can recommend this. But for everyone that likes a bit more thought out character and development I suggest trying it but not expecting to much. Maybe the later parts are better as I haven’t read so much. But I don’t want to waste my time either with a story that doesn’t get me existed. I’m sorry and hope the author can learn something from this rantly review ;)

Earth's Greatest Magus

#Top 20 Webnovel Best Sellers 2021, 2022, 2023, and in 2024 #### History is said to be written by the victors. If so, how about Earth's history? Two millennia ago, a young boy named Emery met a tragic fate. In his final moments, he was transmigrated and accepted into the Universe's most prestigious school of magic. “You are among the chosen few from thousands of human worlds. Whether you seize this opportunity or not, is up to you. You are at Magus Academy, the pinnacle of humanity's ingenuity. Magic, science, and might are all within reach for those who dare to pursue them." [Scan complete - Quadruple affinity. Water, Earth, Plant, and Darkness.] "A quadruple acolyte! Only one in tens of thousands of acolytes possess this!" Thus began Emery’s journey together with his 4 friends from the furthest corner of Earth. Each year they returned to Earth to grow, seek revenge, save the princess, conquer the world, and become Earth's Greatest Magus. Their names are still etched in our history books to this day. Authors Note: I have always been fascinated by writing fantasy relating to historical facts. In this story, you will find characters inspired by real-world myth and legend. The universe I created hopefully will make the reader's imagination excited and logically plausible. I hope you enjoy it. ### Here are some key aspects you'll encounter: MC: The protagonist follows the classic weak-to-strong arc. World: Picture a blend of Harry Potter and Star Wars. System: While it's primarily a magic-based story, there's a structured system in place that's easy to follow. Additionally, elements of cultivation. Harem: No, there are several female interests. But I enjoy romance first. So even if there will be more than one love interest it will be deep. Note: English is not my first language, but you'll notice that my writing and English skills gradually improve throughout the chapters. Other: The novel delves into deep research on science and history, enriching the storyline with factual and intriguing details. Give it a read—you might be pleasantly surprised by what unfolds. I Can Copy And Evolve Talents

The convolution of worlds are govern by a set of gods, each god is given a world to rule and there can be skirmishes between them – as a result of one between Nexus, the god of trickery and a senile old hag Elliot reincarnated into Ul’Tra-el by mistake. Ul’Tra-el is a world that grew a voice, because of this voice, it began to take a different path from other worlds -- it was filled with a core anomaly – rifts. Dimensions began to leak into each other, vomiting outrageous monsters. In response or as an auto-correction to such anomaly, talents were awakened in the inhabitants of Ul’Tra-el and they gained tremendous power, for every rift they close down, they were rewarded massively by the voice of the world called Ul. In a hardcore world like this one, our MC (Northern) reincarnated as a talentless individual but in the face of a death and a head splitting revelation... ...when all hopes seemed lost. {System Notice} Your Soul cannot take a form Searching for Unique pattern ability for your soul searching... search found. Unique System ability has been found... Unique System Ability [CopyCat] has been gained. Awakening Unique ability... Northern gained a talent copying system! ... Follow Northern through his journey as he becomes the pinnacle of this world. This a story about a white-haired boy’s rise from rubbles!! Note: This is an overpower genre but MC does not just start off like that. Even though MC can copy talents he doesn't just jump around copying talents because there's a limitation. However, his rise to strength is depicted and is an experience to enjoy. The first few hundreds would be frustrating to follow because MC is weak but that makes the experience all the more interesting when MC finally gets freaking strong and starts wiping the floor with everyones asses.
