The reason he is still like this is because I wanted to develop the world and other characters first. Through out the entire 100 chapters I purposly made Desmond a side chapter in his own story. So that I can show you how everything Is connected. After the war segment I will be more focused on Desmond and his life as he over comes many hardships that turn him into the dark lord you want to see. Evil characters aren't born there made Desmond has only been in that world for 2 years story time. So its understandable he is weak as ****, keep reading change is coming I'm sure he will shock you.

I believe you are confused about some things. 1. No one told him what a magi was or their privileges. He got that info from the first soul he ate. 2.He doesn't know much of anything about this world at the being or the value of its items. Everything he showed to the people at the book store is common stuff that anyone can buy legally no problem. 3.He learned about secret visage threw eating other people's souls. Meaning that at the time he did not have a super clear understanding of the organisation. He knows that their a dangerous group that a lot of people don't want to mess with unless they don't have to so he tried to use that to his advantage. But in the end you know how that turned out. The mc is working with a limited amount of power and knowledge to constantly save his ass. This show that he is smart and a capable person but above all it shows that he is not super man. The mc is at the time a normal person fighting against giants. Which is exactly what I wanted to show so I stick by it. The mc is scared of the cops for all the right reasons they have lived in the same world Desmond just stepped into their whole lives their use to it and know how to take down people like Desmond. The mc isn't a god he's just an ant in a god level world. 4. The mc has trained in studied every day for a year with almost no assistance. He took literally 1 day off chill. In that time the mc has learned hand to hand combat, weapon, and survival skills, along with a few other things. It is difficult to acquire none mortal level techniques especially since mc has zero backing, influence, money, power level, knowledge, or knows the right people. He has befriend mortals because thats all he can do. How in the world is he suppose to befriend these super powerful people when requirement number one in most cases is to be at the same level as the other. I've all ready showed the results of what happens when you do that. 5. Desmond can not become all mighty from eating souls alone I don't do that ****. If he gets to powerful to quickly he will die. You need a strong vessel to contain that much power. You also need the right runes to engrave on your core, and your sea of consciousness needs to be at a minimum level to advance as well. The bar to become an intermediate apprentice level mage from beginner is low but it takes normal people 3-5 year if they have talent to reach that level. The mc was able to do it because the strength of his soul exceeded the requirements. Mental energy, body, and core strength were not a big factor in it. 6. The mc is just a guy if he wants to tell jokes and educate a few uncultured person so what. 7. The mc would never have defeated those guy even if he landed every shot. Orcs are different from humans and those orcs were all at least intermediate apprentice level at the time. The fight against the other soul guy would have ended with him loosing 100 percent of the time no matter what I did. Especially since the mc was in arms reach. Eliot row is not nor does he consider himself human. The amount of experience he has dwarfs the mc's at the time. Also I don't remember killing a teenager after weeks of torture I have no Idea what your talking about.
