I liked the beginning of this novel. I thought it was different and nice since the female lead was acting like a “domineering “ male lead. But I gave up after it was mentioned that she is only second to the male lead in terms of money and martial arts. And this is a serious issue I have noticed in most Chinese novels. They might make their female leads powerful and all, but they will always be second to the guy. Like why second? Why not equal? Why not more? I don’t find belittling girls and putting their achievements slightly lower than their counterparts ROMANTIC at all!! Would it hurt our dearest male lead if the girl was not second to him? If she was more powerful than him? More smarter? And SPOILER** in one chapter, the MC’s bff was shielding the ML and his friends who were calling her and the MC “cheap prostitute” while the MC killed girls who dare insult her. It just made me angry that Chinese female authors are constantly putting down women to make men feel good while the audience are mostly women...weird logic I know. At this point, maybe I am just venting 🤷♀️🤷♀️

LIKECan't agree more... Me ranting: I don't need ridiculously strong, rich, smart, beautiful FLs and MLs. Flaws are mKing a Character mire interesting. And no, I dont mean her being a "foodie" that looses their brain over food or the possesivenes of the ML (more like an unhealthy obsession). And then ofc the ML has to be a bit stronger, richer etc than the FL. She is independent, yes but whenever something serious happens she turns into a damsel in distress for the ML to save her....... ugh. I'm done...
