I think it has a lot to do with the story type though. I actually prefer monogamous stories, but it feels weird to read xianxia style novels, for example, without a harem. I think it's because most monogamous ones I've read still play out similarly, the MC generally creates too many useless side characters that are there merely to get emotionally manipulated and then rejected in the end. Some can be done well, though it's just on the rare side. Meanwhile with harem ones, honestly I don't think of it like they are real. I read them kinda like I would read a Pokemon story ;). Basically junk food.

That said, the feminist thing in the synopsis raised a red flag immediately. Feminists are just misandrists under a different name, and male ones are just cucks.
