This story is interesting at first and I generally liked the plot and writing style but the author just starts wandering off into left field halfway through. I finally hit the eject button when the author started emotionally waterboarding us with the fear of a long-term traumatized NPC who we’d just been introduced to as a quest point, who the audience had little reason to care for, and who was probably never going to appear again as soon as the MC completed the quest which was a pure kill it/turn it in quest with a backstory. It was a good backstory, but not worth going on for paragraphs about this NPC’s fear of destroying the object and finally being free.

It’s still emotional waterboarding over a character that we, the audience, have zero investment in. Maybe he becomes a main character later for all I know, but at the time of said waterboarding that hasn’t been established yet. He’s not part of the party, hasn’t shown an interest in joining, isn’t invested in one of the other characters, and hasn’t even been in more than two other scenes. You went way too deep on his emotional state given how little we know or care about him and how little screen time he’s had.

Berserk has more depth than you give it credit for. The original series didn’t cover the best part of the manga and the new series just didn’t have great animation although at least they got the story right. As for you, it’s pretty small-minded to try to devalue a person based on one thing they like that you don’t. Get a life.

You're just a hypocrite. The fact that you like a manga that is trying to humanize a rapist makes me cringe at this review. I'd much rather read about an "irrelevant" character, than pitiful emo devils who surrendered their souls.

Wow you missed the point of Berserk. It isn’t “humanizing a rapist”. If anything it demonizes him as he LITERALLY becomes a demon and betrays everyone close to him. He’s not even the main character. Also that is completely besides the point and your name calling and inability to stick to one coherent discussion strongly proclaims that you’re still a child.
