In fiction, you create an illusion that help people to feel what is this story about - - thrill, suspense, ***... Etc. What ever it is, as long as it is a bit believable. Once you introduce unrealisitc setting, that illusion break, and your brain would draw you out of story. (One of the main reasons that many of harem stories are shit, unless they are one shot.) no matter what setting and the story become shït. Some fiction become shit when things become unrealistic, like 30 years old woman drool over 2 years old MC, just because of, Fan service. I choose, the Character - the only thing that should be realistic - someone who act and react logically. At least, my brain won't take that as an insult. The best thing about fiction is that there are no rules... As long as it has logic and explanation behind it. Even in marvel, they have a logical explanation for the most imaginary settings. No offense man, I have nothing against harem stories, I made one, once. The only problem I have, is when people are putting pressure on authors, bushing them for not making their stories about harem. Sure, if this was a harem story and I started offense the audience for loving such kind, I would deserve all of the spit. But this is kind of, not a harem story.
