Review Detail of KajiKouXaito in Devotion [BL]

So far as the story goes, I had a constant problem with the pacing. It was that the pace of the story is too fast that the progression of their romance was cut too short to the point that I didn't have any attachment to their romance. There wasn't any lingering special memories about their love story which is a detrimental issue because this story is romance. Also, the transition from scene to scene is very confusing. Using dividers weren't enough because the jumps from scenes are just too big. Words like, meanwhile, 2 years later and such would be such a great help to locate the setting off the story. As for the characters, Ren and Shinobu`s character design are kind of established but still lacks on some parts. It would probably be better if chapters are designated to elaborate their past rather than them merely as a conversation. I bet you would be more attached to the MC's if you get to know them more. As for some of the side characters, I find it dreadful to say but their existence was very weak, it's like they only appear so that the MC's wouldn't seem like they are the only people in the world. I didn't feel any attachement to these characters that their relevance to the story was merely "just because". It wouldn't hurt to add some spice between their friendship so that the MC's character design would also be more established. Specially these are the people who got involved and are involved with the MC's. As for the plot and setting. I told it in one of my comments, the beginning was too much of a cliche, but it was okay if as the story progresses, this cliche scenery would be converted to something extravagant, but with as the chapters add up, nothing special really happens and still runs on the cliche pathway. But let me make myself clear. I am not saying that the writer wasn't good nor the story itself was bad. In fact, the writer writes in a manner that is not tiring to read which would complement the issues of the novel. Which is why I still expect more development and progression in the story. I want to read more of it which is a positive thing because somehow, I wanna see more from this writer. I believe their talent. That sums up my review, and as far as today, my rating is 3.2 and I'm hoping I'd rate it higher next time. Thank you.
