Compared to other top novels in this app Supreme magus is rather decent on the condition you don't get too involved in the story. It is more for a light read or quick binge-reading. Let's start with the good points which are the stellar updating stability and the rather good World Background. The only problem with the World Background for me is that we only get the bare essentials and very rarely we get to know about something that directly or indirectly influences the immediate plot. I am not a native English speaker so I can't judge appropriately the writing quality but I can say that is readable and there aren't any glaring issues. For story development and character design I am gonna write about at the same time as they are interconnected. The power system is poorly done. Although Legion did set up a comprehensive system at the start of the novel , he later on starts to add new stuff to the system that contradict with each other solely for the cool factor. To be more specific modern day scientific laws are applied selectively which ruin the whole system. The elemental particles become obsolete due to said laws. Also some specific kinds of magic become illogical like gravity magic ( it should be said that gravity is one of the most op magics in the whole novel). The characters have substance and depth but there are cases that they don't act as they should and coincidentally those times are when something happens that propels the plot forward. Lith loved and Phloria and She loved him. Despite that they broke up over nothing. Lith didn't even attempt to prevent the break up or go after her. He both loves her and had responsibility for her as she was on the road of awakening. Moreover despite being paranoid about everything he never made an artifact that informs him about Phloria's awakening or did he try to keep in contact to measure her awakening progress. Lastly there quite a few major side characters that later on the story become quite irrelevant (like Friya ) which makes you wonder why we even went in depth with them.

For science thing , in the awakened teacher fight someone uses a hollow ice cube to neutralize a fire spell by depriving oxygen. Also a lot of times in water/ice and earth magic physical matter is required for the spell , so why are element particles needed ? Also lightning magic derived from air magic is also non scientific as gravity magic. Gravity needs mass to actually exist so how are you gonna explain it with science laws (amplifications in the spells are a standard no matter how heavy the opponent already is , meaning that gravity magic doesn't add mass but somehow multiplies the already existing one). Then there is also light/darkness and space magic that has no explanation with science laws (I also heard the time magic might be added in the future , I only heard this as rumor). About Friya after the academy she becomes more like peanut gallery than have an active part and most of her interactions with Lith are kept to a minimum. It reached to a point that for her to be able to be relevant she has to sign away her life which in my opinion is counter productive. How are you gonna be relevant to your family and friends when you sell off your freedom. Lastly I stopped reading at the start of the new Arc where Lith went to the other continent.

littlefrench:I would actually have to ask how far you are in the story, sure there is a period during which Friya becomes a bit of a side character however later on she comes back much more interesting for the story... Personally I don’t remember too well the start of the story but I did not see any particular science fact which went against what was said later ? Could you give an example ?
