This is the first Chinese novel I'd ever read, especially the cultivation type. I fell in love with the entire genre because of it actually. It is superb. Funny in all the right places and I love that the FL isn't a Mary Sue. The ML is adorable from the very start and even the second ML isn't a second ML because they're completely dedicated to each other. It's my favorite.

Not a Mary Sue??? I don’t think that word means what you think it means…

When I think Mary Sue, I think Holier than thou, forgiveness is everything, be good to everyone and shine as brightly as the virgin Mary, pure and untainted with a huge heart of gold that will allow to look past even your own attempted murderers because they seem sorry.

Accordigg my to Dictionary.com, a “Mary Sue is a term used to describe a fictional character, usually female, who is seen as too perfect and almost boring for lack of flaws, originally written as an idealized version of an author in fanfiction.” From my understanding, It’s not about their moral code or being Holier than thou, but about how they seem to have no flaws and the world bends around them to make things easy for them. They never meet any overwhelming obstacles and secondary characters all seem to fall in love with the Mary Sue for no reason whatsoever. Does that sound familiar? 😉 Famous examples are Rey from the new Star Wars, She Hulk from the TV series, any Girl Boss character.

Did you read me saying anywhere that my thoughts are the definition of a Mary Sue? I said that it is what I -as in, is unique to my perspective - consider a Mary Sue. I don't need a dictionary definition because I already know it. I specified from the beginning that my explanation was what I consider a Mary Sue type novel. Thanks, though.
