I have to admit I started this book on a whim, not expecting much from it. I choose it because it is 96 chapters short, completed and completely free to read. But I have to admit this book really captured me. I binge read it, sleeping really late only to continue reading right after getting up again and completing this book. (Although the chapters aren't many, they aren't by any means short.) The female lead seemed idiotic and naive at first, but later one I came to realise that she is smart but ignorant of many worldly things, cause of it being mostly her upbringing. The male lead as well might seem unreasonable and ruthless at first, but the deeper you look the more the many layers of his and all the other characters will capture you. If you can't sympathize or feel yourself into those characters, this story might not fit you. But before dropping it right now, without even having tried it, please take a minute to savour this story. In my eyes it's a rare gem. I won't say much to not spoil anything but the plot greatly depicts imperial palace life and ploys. Each character has profound dept and reasoning, struggling for their means of survival. There are many hidden puzzle pieces to the story with the author leaving little hints everywhere that the reader has to pick up. But that doesn't make the plot predictable by any means. Instead it draws you deeper and deeper into the misery and intrigues. It made me feel excited and nervous, my heart beating fast. The only spoiler I am going to give is that the ending of this book will most likely disappoint you. I won't say more,but the reason for that is that this book is part of a trilogy as far as I know. Sadly the author choose to continue only on wattpad. Gladly you don't need an account there to read further, you just can't comment in this case. So far the second book is even more exciting than the first, starting where the first one ended. The 2nd and 3rd book are called His Majesty and I His Liege and I You would miss out by not reading them as far as I am concerned.
