Review Detail of StenDuring in My brother's friend

The introduction to a romance story. This review is part of a review swap and valid as of chapter six. As usual assessing a story half a dozen chapters into it becomes pretty much undoable. The story hasn't even begun yet. We've been introduced to what's probably the two main characters plus a smattering of supporting cast. Half a dozen chapters in there are a few no-nos commited. First there's an absolutely unneeded flashback thrown into our faces in the very first chapter, and what's worse, it's centered around a side character. Secondly you just don't drop the prologue as chapter six. I don't care about the reason. Just don't. It's better to wipe the existing content of every chapter published (and they are only six) and replace with content in the correct order. The introduction in place has a heavy emphasis on setting, which is a little peculiar given that this one is labelled as romance. Secondly comes character and lastly the plot. Since a story needs to attract attention from the start one of the big three usually have to go early on. In this case it was plot. The story is told from the third person omniscient point of view in the past tense. Now for the stars. Writing: Three stars. Until chapter five it was four stars. Then prologue happened... Substandard punctuation detracts from the reading experience, but overall the English used is perfectly servicable. Updates: Five stars. At a mere six chapters I can't have an opinion. I'm handing out the full five stars. Story: Four stars. This is not a problem. We're in the extreme beginning of a story. Plot, character or setting had to go. I respect that plot took a backseat. Character: Four stars. While weak plot was no problem at all this early in the story I believe more focus should have been given to characters. As in the main focus should have been placed here. World: Five stars. This is actually a problem. I definitely think world and character should switch places since this is supposed to be a romance story. Lastly, this is the extreme beginning of a romance story that right now reads more like a family drama concerning power and inheritance. after six chapters there's an inkling of lust but most definitely no romance.
