Hello. I will keep it short. I do not like this novel. Reasons: 1) Main character is far too unstable. She can be a smart person in one situation, but complete idiot in next chapter. She has 0 control over her emotions. In general her portrait is incomplete. 2) Both love interests are psychos. It leads to serious issues with Author's world. It looks like in this world most people has 0 morale, stupid and there is no authorities. Like people with money can kidnap, kill and do other illegal things and they will never be punished by law. 3) Side characters are plain. Most side characters are just useless fillers. Also most of them have complete lack of morale, because they are fine with there boss doing whatever he wishes. Have a nice day!

1)Accurate depiction of someone with that level of trauma. Of course, that is why most fiction does NOT write those characters accurately - that level of emotional gore is hard to look at. Your Millage May Vary indeed. 2) Unfortunately... that IS the Author's world. There is no rule of law in China, only rule of the powerful. And because of how the "economic reforms" got set up, it is the politically powerful who are rich. If you follow the news like I do - this is a disturbingly accurate portrait of "poor girl meets rich man". 3) China's social values are based on "face" not "morals". Again, this is culturally accurate depiction of how people in China generally treat other people who are "not family". To the point there are HUNDREDS of security cam videos showing people ignoring the abduction of children right off the streets. A level of sexual harassment that might get ignored even in America? (#MeToo) Yeah, good luck getting any non-family members to so much as raise an eyebrow in China. Not sure if that would improve things for you to know that it is based on true stories. *shrug* Personally I like my stories far more fictional then this. (I'm still reading for now, probably drop it if it gets too 'real' for me)
Thank you for your answer 1) I know nothing about America and I never was there. 2) There is a rule of law in China, I have no idea what news did you watch or read but government>money in China. They have a socialism, kinda. Poor girl call police, news, etc and problem is solved. 3) Well, I do not know many people with such level of trauma, but I do know few girls who were raped and beaten in family. And such description is not suited for them. In my country in such conditions a girl would, most likely, slice husband's throat at night, if he treat her like that. 4) If this novel is based on true stories and "there are HUNDREDS of security cam videos showing people ignoring the abduction of children", then Chinese has serious issues. Like really, we live not in 5th century. Anyone can get a gun or craft some explosives and avenge there loved ones. Have a nice day!

Hmm maybe, she has no control of her emotions bc she was previously both mentally and physically tortured/ abused ? But idk ...maybe you’d be able to go thru the same things as her and come out completely sane and unaffected...
Hello. I will not argue or tell something irrelevant. Just some stats from my friend who worked in public prosecution office. Most cases that they deal with are like that husband abuse wife, she cut his throat at night. If somebody is really abused they break, Maybe she was a masochist, maybe something else, but as I stated before I do dislike described world a lot. Have a nice day.

Hello. Your comment is quite empty and not a question so I can not really answer it. But due to job habit, (I work in academics) I will explain some things to you, : 1) When you comment, reply etc you take someones time. People waste time to read, analyze and compile some thoughts. If your comment consists of 1 sentence like yours and state nothing you basically waste 2-3 minutes of time of each person who read it. If they write a reply, which any serious person will do, you take 10-15 min of there time. 2) My review was complete. I did not ask for or made any analyzes. I was only stating what I have observed. You did not even argue. You just gave your opinion, which was basically never asked. Also you implemented that I am stupid because I do not understand reasons of her being like that in author's mind. 3) So, make it short, your comment can be seen as an insult that was aimed to waste time of other people.
