I wish people wouldn't downvote to one star just because they don't like the categorisation lol. Can we not punish the novel for any management gaffes? It's 100% true that female readers are more likely to read it so it fits in the female lead category right now since there's too few LGBT novels to make its own category at the moment. Hopefully that will change in the future. Anyway speaking of the novel, my real rating is probably a bit lower, I just want to combat the unnecessary downvotes. If you liked the e-sports parts of National School Prince is a Girl then you'll definitely like this lol, it's pretty much the same character dynamics

I agree that down voting just because of category is unfair to the author. However, the fact that female readers are more likely to read is irrelevant when categorizing, or should be. Categorisation is based on reader gender, or at least that hasn't been explicitly stated, so that should not be a consideration. I am appalled that webnovel thinks this is acceptable. The MC is male, everything else is irrelevant. This goes beyond discrimination. It's like saying that a male character who is homosexual isn't a man. I applaud the fact that LGBT novels are being included, but to then categorise like this is worse than committing them in the first place. This is saying that all those times when people are made to feel less than they are or "not a man" for being gay are acceptable in webnovels eyes.

I think this is down to a difference in opinion on how Webnovel thinks of its categories. To me it seems very obvious that the majority of female lead readers are female, so if I wanted to release a novel targeted for female readers I'd release it in that category. I'm pretty sure someone in the promo department of QI thinks similarly to me which is why this happened in the first place; it's not a representation of the entirety of Webnovel which definitely has people who share your opinion because a previous BL work was also categorised in the male lead section already some time ago (don't ask me which one, I don't remember lol). In the end it boils down to people taking the categorisation way too seriously, which is... idk... personally I'm much more interested in the tags of something than which of just two categories it's in

Many people may think this isn't a serious thing but it's a micro aggression to some people. When you're constantly dismissed and discriminated against, something like this is yet another example of people thinking that's okay, or it's not serious, so why get worked up about it. Yes, categorisation may not be as important as tags, and for me I discount them. However, the argument that it's not a big deal ignores the fact that it's insulting and dismissive and factually incorrect. If webnovel want to make categorisation about who the readership is, then change it. Otherwise something that is deeply hurtful to some people is being seen as not a big deal. Yes, there may have been an LGBT novel placed in male lead before, but what does that matter? This novel hasn't been. I didn't see that novel, so have come to this seeing that webnovel treat LGBT novels differently. Is every novel with a female lead more likely to have a female readership? If not, are those that appeal more to male readers put in ths Male lead category? I just wanted to get my point across. I accept you may think I'm blowing this out of proportion, but it sends a really bad message that this is okay or worse, not a big deal.

It's not that I don't understand your point of view. I get why it upsets you and I'm not saying your dissatisfaction is invalid. I just disagree with how much importance you place on the categorisation, which is something we'll have to agree to disagree about. For what it's worth, when I first started using the Webnovel app 3(?)-ish years ago, it was just male and female categories instead of male and female lead. Maybe that's why I immediately see it as readership instead of a comment on the gender of the MC. Either way, I appreciate your take on it and would suggest you bring it up in the Webnovel forums if you'd like the management team to take note of it!

(BL)Alpha Made

The world is diverse and flourishing. Humanity has changed, and with it, brought in a new era of prosperity. Males and females still exist, but the spectrum from which humanity is cast has broadened. With the introduction of alpha, omega, and beta, humanity has evolved even further. In such a word, Dr. Andrew Knox, known environmental researcher, is happy being a beta male. It has made his life easier by being middle ground, and as much as some wish he was one way or the other, he’s happy being who he is. Thriving even. He works in a world renowned research facility. He makes friends easily, and his projects are always funded. He even found someone who he thinks he could end up marrying if things continue in the right direction. That, and the vacant house next to his apartment building gets bought by a new neighbour. A cute, but cautious omega who relies on Andrew as a beta for help. Andrew couldn’t be happier. He loves being a helper, and loves when people rely on him. All in all, Andrew really thinks he has everything made. That is, until a research project with shoddy data is thrown back into his face that he has no recollection of working on, and all of his reputation disintegrates in between one heartbeat and the next. Heartbroken, it isn’t until Andrew wakes up, chained to a wall that everything becomes clear. He becomes a test subject to one of the scientists that he trusted. That he expected would never harm him. The life he had known, where he was a respected researcher was ripped out from underneath him. His identity and everything he’s ever known is stolen from him from a crazed researcher who he had trusted, maybe even loved. He has to relearn who he is, what he is, from scratch. Thankfully, he has one person in his corner. He just never expected to have to rely on someone whose shoulders were so small. This is an a/b/o story, and will have those tropes associated with it. I hope you enjoy :)

Red Blossom System (BL)

Completed. “Flowers grow back, even after they are stepped on, and so will I.”  For over a millennium, Cillian had shouldered the role of a guardian, or as he would jest, a glorified gardener. In his recollection, he'd emerged in an endless expanse known as Blossom Central, his memory a mere fragment with only his name. He was bound to the Red Blossom system Bloom, where an annoying flying entity named Bliss, the personification of Bloom, materialized as his assistant. Cillian's duty centered on nurturing the Red Blossom trees and safeguarding the cherries from falling. Each Red Blossom tree represented a distinct world, relying on his care to prosper. One day, Bliss mustered the courage to disrupt Cillian's nap despite knowing it could be risky. But he had a compelling reason – numerous Red Blossom trees had lost their cherries, a situation that had never occurred before. The fallen cherries meant that the worlds connected to those trees were in danger of collapsing. It was all because a mortal's destiny had been altered. To prevent the impending calamity, they needed to restore that mortal's fate to its rightful course. --------------------------- Cillian, desperation etched across his face, pushed the man atop him, pleading, "Please, enough, I can't take it anymore." The man swiftly reclaimed his position, his lips trailing along Cillian's Adam's apple. He whispered sensually, "We're just getting started; I'm not finished playing with you." Internally, Cillian urgently reached out to Bliss: *Bliss, get your ass over here!* *Yes, Master?* *Who the hell is this man, and why does he persistently follow me from world to world?* Bliss responded with feigned innocence, *I truly have no idea, Master.* Cillian issued a dire threat, *Tell me what you're keeping from me.* Before Bliss could utter a word, the man's lips descended upon his own with a hunger. Their tongues intertwined, and he emphasized dominantly, "I've told you, darling, don't address me as anything other than Gege." Cillian was on the verge of tears. Stuck in Blossom Central, he'd always harbored disdain for his circumstances, but now he was relentlessly pursued by this shameless, tofu-eating stranger who insisted on being called Gege. Like a fool, he thought he would get to play with Alterers, but he's the one getting played with over and over again... The Demon King is an Idiot [BL]

Are you afraid of death? For Jie Fu Lian, who had already come to terms with his death, the thought of being alive was scarier. Although his death was quite tragic, he still lived a fulfilling life. He had done everything that he had wanted to do and he had achieved everything that he had strived for. Even as he died, he only had a single regret. He regretted the fact that he couldn't thank Hua Tianshu, an enemy who had stood up for him till the end. His death was quite painful but he wasn't unhappy with it. However, it should have ended right there. Why the hell was he now possessing the body of a tyrannical demon king?! The heavens above were certainly playing with him and laughing at his misfortune! As if possessing the body of his enemy wasn't enough, out of all the people that he could run into, why did he have to run into Hua Tianshu?! Just when Jie Fu Lian thought his luck couldn't get any worse, Hua Tianshu just had to go and recognize him as well! "Is this what an ill-fated relationship means?" Jie Fu Lian's lips twitched. It was as if even death couldn't break the red strings that had tied the two of them together. "Why are you so nice to me?" “You wouldn’t believe me even if I told you the reason,” Hua Tianshu sighed. “You are falsely accusing me. I trust everything you tell me.” “I like you.” “I like you too, brother,” Jie Fu Lian beamed, however, this response only disappointed Hua Tianshu whose words had been misunderstood once again. “We are clearly not on the same page,” Hua Tianshu sighed as he turned around and left. Jie Fu Lian frowned as he tilted his head cluelessly. The new demon king is a thick-headed idiot who can’t even take a hint! Cover art by: Cherlyswan
