As the author I should shamelessly give myself a 5 star review. The problem with that is my update stability is nonexistent. Anyway, if you want this to be harem let me know so I can use my brain in advance to come up with good names and stuff.

in a world where people are insanely strong and can bend elements to their will, why not use some trap card or yank a 3 headed dragon out of somewhere?

Well, yugioh is a game where illusions of monsters you summon appear to battle each other. Have no damage potential whatsoever

Well the shadow realm kinda exists, and in 5d's there are "psychic duelists" that can summon monsters for real.

Well, one worshiped the devil (shadow) while the other is so rare that they are one in a billion (psychic)

Well, your forgetting this is another world, so all the rules of our world don't really apply in all factors. For example, he uses energy to summon his monsters, which imply that they are energy constructs, which could mean they are made out of plasma, meaning they can physically affect things while taking any shape or form. And if that is not what the author intended you should not forget, the author created this character, so he could be a psychic, and the shadow realm has been mentioned in the novel. That and there have been other instances of cards affecting the real world, take GX for a example, where every card summoned by anyone had where real and could be used outside of duels to destroy buildings. The villain in that arc used polymerization to fuse students and monster cards. Though i will admit this happened in another dimension, the same rules could apply to the authors world as that one.
