It's totally fine if you don't like this story and prefer a powertrip story and I'm sorry that the story couldn't offer you what you were looking for, but as I see it, you have read up to chapter 7, skipped to chapter 75, and logically got confused about the character development and plot that took place. This story is in a way meant to show that even if you have a grand mission or quest, you don't stop being human. So even if you do your mission out of a sense of duty, it can be expected that while doing it, you will interact with other people, whether you like them, hate them, love them, or don't care about them. Naturally, he will grow more distant , cold and calculating after getting more experience, but the first universe intentionally has the "New Life" feeling and a conflict between rationality and emotionality.
