Cause the core isn’t the true issue. There is also usually a boss monster involved. They aren’t always together, so sometimes it’s touch the core and gtfo. This applies to other gares too, not just this specific gate. So, getting the gate stable, open, and allowing others to be able to exit and enter at will. That also means that they can do research on the gate itself, and the boss monster at the end.

At this point, that is kind of what they are planning to do. There’s more to it, but they have a few things that they need to do. One, make sure the gate doesn’t explode. To do that, they need a team to go in and touch the gate core. They don’t need to close the gate, but they do need to survive long enough to get that deep into the gate. With plans continuing to change, especially with the public and now, everyone in the world aware that the second type of this gate has shown up, some things are bound to change in their plan.
