you said any idea i think you must read re zero brother why you ask? i feel most those regression of mc, needed to be hard and painful and he most have like, died many painful death, like being burned alive, being eaten when alive being tortured because of information being melted in acid... when he was alive thus when you reach the place when mc stat to show his ruthlessness and all you have even more reason for mc to be like that after all, if someone die many painful death, how can they look at life like normal people
