If wizards can regrow bones I have no doubt they can grow hair as well, if McGonagall thinks he is an orphan without funds for that she will know his last name soon enough, which means he is rich enough to use a potion for hair growth on a whim. He told the robe shop owner in Diagon Alley and the two Slitherin girl about being a Metamorphmagus anyway, it's not a secret anymore, why would he be worried about McGonagall's reaction ?

Telling that to someone you trust is okay, but two girls you have known for less than a day ? And future Slitherins as well ? That's not the smartest move, even if it's only partial, you can still change you face at least a bit, which can save you in the future if you need to be anonymous. People will be on guard once they know, but Polyjuice is a thing in this world so it's not the most important trait to keep secret, just a better Polyjuice (No need to drink the potion every hour or something) and if it allows you to make people think they know everything about you they won't be overly cautious against the Animagus form or seer ability (future knowledge) since Metamophmagus is already something pretty big.

It's a fact that one of the headmasters of Hogwarts was a Black, and that all headmasters have a portrait of them in the headmasters's office at Hogwarts. What is still unclear is whether the portraits are really used by Dumbledore to spy on their respective families, or not, as people in portraits can travel from one frame to another and thus spy on the place where other frames are. Long story short, the MC is looking for a proof that a Black portrait does exist in Hogwarts, he is not sure that this portrait can be used to spy on him, but he is not willing to take the risk so he wants to get rid of it just in case. He knows that the portrait exist but he hasn't been at Hogwarts yet, so since he can't guess it out of nowhere, he is now looking for a proof in a book.

Fusing the abilities of the 3 pathways like that is an excellent idea, but i think it was a bit too early. The sequence 5 should have been like the earlier sequences, the abilities of the 3 pathways at sequence 5 are already really strong, the fusion should have happened at sequence 4. Since he would have become a demigod, a qualitative change would be expected to avoid redundant improvements like a bigger range of the abilities of sequence 5. The ideas are really good through, just a bit early in my opinion.
