He still can't feel or use his chakra tho. He had chakra before his awakening but he wasn't able to feel or use it without this method. The sharingan inserts a special type of chakra into the body. With his harshirama like strong chakra,even the sharingan's awakening is not strong enough to fully make his chakra reserves accessible
